anyone try this steamer from Costco?

I'm pretty new to serious detailing and I'm looking into possibly purchasing a steam cleaner and it will only be used for my own vehicles. I'm not looking to spend very much money and have been reading everyones reviews on various "inexpensive" units when I came across this unit from Costco. Its a Euroflex Monster, the price is right and I love Costco's return policy so I'm wondering if anyone has given this unit a try for auto detailing?

I saw that unit as well. Seems the vapormore is sort of the "cheapest" one anyone will recommend...

 

I would look at the McCulloch MC-1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner (Steamer).

Ebay has better prices and the reviews on Amazon are pretty good.

 

Does anyone know if the Vapormore unit is that much better then the McCulloch unit to justify twice the cost?

 

I dunno but for 95 bucks and reviews as good as they seem I think the McCulloch is worth the risk.

How are you looking to use your vapor/steam cleaner? You actually don't need much steam to clean car interiors, in fact you're better-off with low-powered psi steam and heat on some of the interior parts. If you are going to use it around your house for serious cleaning and large areas or move-up to commercial usage then jumping-up to big boys will pay-off. The hotter the steam/vapor and the more psi you are producing the more water the unit will require owed to demand of the higher temps and pressures. The units you are currently considering will not meet these higher demands. However, if you are not going to need those demands then the units you are considering are just fine. The jump in price between the two-levels of demand is significant.

Another factor is unit prep/startup lead times. The time required for any unit takes to prep, warm or startup (no matter whether a steamer or any other machine) the less likely you are to use it over time—unless the situation absolutely mandates use of said tool. Convenience plays a large factor regarding any product.

Because these are single tank units, you will have to let them cool-down to add more water; this adds to time prep during use; the larger the water reservoir capacity, the less downtime. The less water in the reservoir, the quicker the unit will heat. It's all about trade-offs.

 

Well I'm mostly just wanting it for vehicle interior, however I would also like to use it to clean stove and oven. I don't think I'm willing to jump up to the $1000 units right now.

 

I have the McCulloch MC-1275 and i love it!!! Unit has been working perfect for about 2.5 years now. I use it to steam some interior parts and it's my main cleaning tool for my house. I paid 85 for it at harbor freight.
