So admittedly, I've been out of the detailing game for a few years while I've been at college. Well, college is over, and I've got some months to enjoy before grad school to pick back up. Well, when I walked into advanced auto a while back, I saw they started carrying Griot's and being a marketers dream, I was a sucker for the display and all the fancy bottles, so I "fell back in love" with griot's and their OCD image...which appeals to me. I do think they're a neat company and I would say some of their products are fantastic (namely vinyl and rubber dressing and interior cleaner...even the leather care is good stuff)...

anyways I thought since I already know my dad surprised me and told me he's going to have my front bumper, hood, and front fenders resprayed at a certified Porsche approved body shop, I knew I'll need to do some correction work to finish of their compounding work. So, I got in a kick to try a bunch of different waxes until then seeing as I know that I'll strip, polish, and re LSP....

well last week's wash was followed with Griot's Best of Show wax, applied as they directed with the orbital and let cure for 12 hours and removed with spray on wax....

WILL SAY THIS: upon initial removal, the stuff is actually not bad...has a good finish, but here's the thing....after only 1 week of driving and 2 rainy days, the wax is COMPLETELY GONE! I washed it tonight and there was ZERO beading....and after I blew the car off and went over it with Uber no name and QD, the surface felt dry as if the wash completely removed the wax! WOW TERRIBLE! So, this weeks wax is Swissvax Concorso/ Mystery mix ( I had little amounts of both and melted them together)

well I will say this, SV finish is by far the most superior I've ever encountered, and the paint feels like butter or silk!

We'll see how this wax lasts over this week!

    haha nice.

The only OTC wax I ever tried is turtle wax several years ago before I joined the forums. It too lasted about a week or two and gona fter the first wash.

What? Natty's Blue has worse durability than Souveran. It doesn't even last a single damn day. HORRIBLE.

Concourso and Collinite are the only carnauba waxes I've ever really liked, and I've tried a lot. Frankly, I would never even touch a wax if sealants held up better to bird bombs.

The only one I still want to try is RaceGlaze 55

Try Collinite. Cheap as dirt for what you get. It survives a few dawn washes too, so it will last more than a day anyways.

I've never tried Griots, but I also haven't tried Adam's waxes, so I can't throw in my 2 cents about those waxes. I have however used BFWD. It works well, I am waiting to see how durable it is.

The new Griot's Carnauba Paste Wax is really good for the price point.

I don't know if what you guys have experienced, but I easily get 6 months strong with swissvax concorso

that is used in conjunction with 1Z perls for washes and 1Z lack finish for wipe downs.

    that trio is UNBEATABLE IMO

Collinite 915 kills it in the looks and durability category, but is a huge PITA to remove. They did a blind test and I believe Collinite placed 3rd out of 10 or so, Swissvax was #1. Collinite beat out the $7,XXX Zymol wax too.

As far as 845, it's a nice wax and is durable but lacks the look that the 915 paste has.

It's all in the polishing. If you did a 50/50 with both Collinite, you would not know which is which.

I still like the "beater wax" LOL it provides about 2 1/2 to 3 months of protection for me when ever I use it. :thumb:
