Came to a realization about how much detailing I can do

Mentioned this round about ways in posts here and there but over the last three years I've been struggling with a bad back. First they added MS to it (which luckily I don't have) and now it's bad back plus Fibromyalgia. End result is that I'm barely able to work and find it difficult to get around ---have to use a cane now. It's taken a toll on just about everything I want to do but especially detailing. I've been on here more than usual making plans to how I'm going to start the spring detailing season because I can't do much else. Now I'm realizing that even though I have all the tools and supplies I probably won't be able to do much of anything. ONR washes and even OOC cleanings are a chore now.

Wife's SUV looking a bit grimy now and then is ok with me but it really bothers me that I can't do what I wanted to restore the old jag I drive. Now I've just got to figure out how to make the old girl look half way decent and 'preserve' her until I feel better.

So, what can I do that takes little energy but will keep my jag from looking worse? I'm thinking maybe a glaze.

If I live near you I would come in help take care of it for you. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Back problems are no joke!

How often are you driving the Jag?

It's my daily driver but having said that there's only a day or two a week when I can get up to drive it.

I would just wash/wax it and leave it alone until your ready to correct it.

I agree, I think too much emphasis can be placed on correction when it comes to detailing, honestly most folks out there would not ever notice, but they do notice a very well maintained car, just keep it simple until you are in better health.

Agreed, love proper correction, and more so on darker colors, but no. 1 is HAVE FUN! The second it stops being fun, I cease to see why you'd spend so much time and money doing it

^^ thank you.......... it is supposed to be fun, sure there are going to be aggravating situations, but your health also has to be considered as well.

That's part of my problem - I'm having to give up a lot of fun things - detailing is just one of them that I can look at my car and be reminded of - lol.

I've got a bottle of Banana Gloss lying around, might try to wax with it as it's supposed to fill and conceal well.

I feel ya. I've been dealing with numb legs and feet for just over a year now. I also had the MS scare, but luckily the MRI was clear. Lower back is constantly burning. My L5 has a slight bulge, which is pushing on the nerves, causing the numbness. A messed up back is no joke, I can relate to what you're going through. Although mine is nowhere near yours, it still sucks when the fun things in your life are put on hold.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear man, hope you feel better soon! just give the car a little bit of care as you can until the time comes when you can really show her some love. enjoy it, but let the back heal first. I surf alot and have surfed after serious injuries, horrible idea! puts me out of the water for longer than it would have been in the first place.

I fell 12 ft and landed on a concrete floor in a seated position compression fractures and a hurniated(sp?) disk numbness in my left leg + old jaguar with bad paint = 10-14 week correction.

I would use a good paint cleanser like Werkstat Prime Strong or DG 501 and top it off with 845. My brother's SUV is a swirlomatic queen. He lets me detail it once in a while ... a paint cleanser/845 combo makes it look really good. The "whiter" the white, the less you can see marring.

Hope you get better soon and don't worry about the car. I'm dealing with some health/personal issues right now and my cars are a total mess. It bothers me, but I need to take care of me and the family first.
