I just purchased a car, and it's black. Through experience, what are some good methods and products to ensure the best was for my car?

Doesn't matter if it's black or silver I wash all cars as safe as possible.

You will need at the very least two buckets (one for soap solution other for clean water), grit guards, and a quality wash mitt ( i prefer microfiber). Start from the top down and gently glide the mitt over the paint. Rinse your mitt in the clean water bucket after each panel. Dry with a leaf blower and touch up any remaining water with a quick detailer and waffle weave drying towel.

Having a quality wax/sealant on the paint also helps release dirt easier which will prevent excessive rubbing/scrubbing that can scratch the paint.

Come on Roger, don't you know its the "once a year polish" and it can go through "52 car wash cycles and Still Bead!"

In all seriousness though, Boosted has got it right. Definitely look at investing in quality products, it'll pay off in the long run.

if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg and buy something off the shelf atleast get Meguiars Gold Class at the bare minimum.........

Collinite 845 is a great wax BUT it can leave holograms on black paint that require a second wipedown after the wax gasses out again. I'm not talking holograms like marring, but the solvents left on the paint.

prima banana gloss does the same thing, had to do a second wipedown with QD to get rid of the "holograms"

Im also with Boosted Mike - never heard or seen Collinte 845 "hologram or out gas" on black or any other color of paint.. What's up with that?

New guy - Einzett Glanz Wax is also a very good acrylic polymer wax that goes on easy, wipes off easy, and it never has any of those "gas" issues.
Im putting on a new BMW 750Li in Sapphire Metallic Black, today, (2 layers) and it looks fabulous..

NuFinish is crap. If you're gonna buy an OTC wax I would recommend Meguiars Ultimate Wax. One of the best OTC waxes available IMHO

I have 2 black cars. Once you try black you never go back. And that's what she said. On the serious note it is difficult to care for black but a well maintained black always seems to give me respect from other people around me. Be prepared to invest some $$$$ for proper maintenance.

Black 2008 GTI, tried everything - It's my car and gets the product BEFORE it goes on any customers car. I liked BFWD for a long time, but I tried 3D Poxy and that's it -made the switch, it's my go-to LSP.

Also - I like Autogylm HD and CG 50-50,
