hello folks i will be in the market for a new to me used vehicle in the next few months....budget of about 25k . i really had my heart set on a 2004-06 ls430 ultra luxury edition...beautiful cars excellent reliabilty and look great lowered on a set of classy wheels.and i am close friends with a repair shop that specializes in lexus/ toyota. but lately i have really been thinking of another sports car so what would you guys pick in something sports/ sporty in the under 25k area ...reliabilty and resale value being number one and handling above straight line speed. the obvious choice for me is a supra being thats what my friends shop is really known for but i would like something that i wont want to mod to hell and becomes a money pit that you cant drive daily. i would also like something that get better mpg on the highway then my tahoe and avalanche e46 m3? c5 z06 / c6 non z06? pontiac g8 gt? any other ideas? i will be getting the car at wholesale so maybe 28k at the max retail
e46 for the most part has questionable reliability. SMG is a horrible tranny to replace! C5 Z06, quick cars look OK nowadays, C6 non Z06 might get you equal performance but a better look and feel. Pontaic G8, well its a larger sedan, a quick one at that. GM would be pretty solid overall too. LS motors have little faults ever. Have you considered the Subaru BRZ? S2000? STI? Evo? Audi S4?
brz? not sure what that is i would love an s2k but im a big dude not comfortable at all sti evo would both end up being modded money pits audi s4 is a great idea will look into them
the subbie brz is a collab by subaru and toyota (US version is called scion FR-S), basically one of the most anticipated cars coming out this year because its suppose to be ~25k, 4 seater rwd coupe (its about as big as a s2k), and made for the "drive".
Im would say STi, but thats just me being a suby fan boy. You could buy about 3-4 02-03 WRXs hmm... sporty....around 25k.... Reliable.....good looking... Yugo? What kind of platform are you looking for? RWD? AWD? American? Sedan? Coupe?

really guys im open to anything.....well anything that can keep decent relaibilty with basic mods....only thing im against is a supra ...would end up being a full on big single turbo th400 no fun race car...and an evo.... i would like something fun to drive reasonably fast ....would get basic mods headers intake exhaust wheels suspension.....my ideal car would be a e92 m3 but cant afford a low mileage in warranty one and scared of a high mileage one not super concerned with straight line speed but i would like to be able to go play in the curves from time to time are smg e46 m3's really that bad?
Curves? Forget the Supra.It's a beautiful car but that thing handles like a pancake covered in grease. You'd need a lot of investment to make it handle well. I'd suggest an RX-7 or RX-8 for driving fun, but unless you know what to do with a rotary, you are going to claim it's unreliable. The S2000 is great in all aspects except comfort. So your pretty much left with a used 2000-2003-ish M3. Reliability can be hit and miss there depending on how you drive the car.
Sucks. Just parted ways with my pristine condition 2003 M3. Only 57K on the clock. Car was babied. If your looking for an E46, you can find one, but dont buy it without acquiring service records. You need a grasp on what has been completed (inspection I and inspection II) depending on miles and oil change intervals are also something to look at. SMG isnt great...so Id shoot for 6MT. People have a misconception that the BRZ is a Subaru product, when in fact it's a Toyota product where Subaru provided an engine. Simply put, Subby gave Toyota an engine and said make something cool and we'll also put our name on it. So the Scion FRS, the Toyota GT-86 and Subaru BRZ are all the same Toyota with a different badge. Subby is also going to be near $5000 more than Toyota. They should be arriving in showrooms in June and I am going to be one of the lucky first in the country to try them out.
Still it's all about image. Just weird seeing a subaru badge on a car that isn't awd. Doesn't matter who made the car. Still their badge and image on the car.

Straight from Motortrend ... Toyota did the planning and design. Subaru did the engineering, and will build both versions at its Gunma plant in Japan. Both cars will initially be identical, apart from front and rear bumper fascias, badging, and detail equipment levels. We haven't sat in the Scion yet, but we've driven the BRZ, albeit a heavily camouflaged prototype. First impressions are good. saw the BRZ at the auto show, not gunna lie i was hating it before because it was so unsubbie. but after seeing it I really cant say much bad about it, it would be a fun little car for sure, would love to see some real world numbers once they first start getting into consumers hands.
Straight from wikipedia (which obviously will be dismissed because it's wikipedia) ....Meaning the design, conception and facility building the vehicle are all Toyota owned. Even the engine that Subaru furnished has been modified by Toyota giving it a RWD tranny and Direct injection among other things.
