Hi all, I am part of a few forums and this idea of having a "something good happened today" thread came from one of them. Often people get online in the off-topic area simply to complain or be entertained with other distractions. Rarely do we see a place where people can simply just spread the good news about something that happened to them; be it simply getting a nice supper cooked from your better half or winning a big competition. I figured why not make one here. So go ahead, post up anything you're happy or proud of that happened during the day. Let's see if we can get "the little things that make us happy in life" shared with others. I'll start As some of you may know, I have my detailing business, but since the demand for high end detailing isn't that big in Montreal and it will take some time before I make a bigger, better name for myself, it stays on the back burner as a side job for now. I do weekend and late night contracts by appointment only. Until now, I had been working in warehousing and logistics for medical companies as a day job. While not a crappy paying job per se, it still wasn't enough of a work challenge for me to feel compelled to stay. So, I decided to switch things around and reorient my career choice. Today was my first day at my new job. I officially work for Mazda (those who know me in the least personally know I'm a huge fan: I've owned about 7 in less than 6 years and currently have 3 in my everyday life). Having touched essentially every aspect of cars before, I figured I would throw myself into something that I originally never thought would interest me, but upon looking deeper into it, I found great connections to. Sales. I am the new sales advisor at Spinelli Mazda in my home town. While it might not seem like big news to some; read - most. I am excited about the new direction I'm pointing my life towards and wanted to share. Now, let's see some of your little moments you're happy about! Cheers:thumb:
Awesome idea. I only had one class this morning, done by 10am, and had the day off from my day job. So I took the time to delve into my website and fix some things that had been bugging me. Also started drawing some mock ups of a logo. Also had the time to take my foster puppy to the vet, ensuring that he's a healthy puppy to get adopted soon, and went for a run + gym. All in all a pretty good day
Another sales guy here. Love it. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Not everyone can do it. It's a tough gig at times, but can be very rewarding.
Congrats! I'm going back for my masters in the fall and I'm definitely looking to get into a sales role in some aspect afterwards, which reminds me I take my GMAT in two weeks, just scored near 700 today on a practice exam today! Hopefully I can touch near 710 for the real deal.
Congrats on your new gig. Although money DOES matter. If you love what you do for a living, everything else comes easy. I LOVE my job and my detailing business. I will never be dealt the millionaire card and thats fine with me. I had the day off today. My daughter and I went to lunch together and saw a movie. It just doesnt get better than that in my book. Nice thread JoeyV.
My girlfriend and I are in the process of buying a house together so I'd say that's my good, well until the mortgage payments start coming. Signed the offer agreement on Friday and are scheduled to settle in April if all goes to plan with inspection, etc. Good luck with the new job Joey!
Thanks guys. HeavyD, part of my new jobs training was to watch a few motivational DVD's from Grant Cardone and one of the big lines I kept in mind and will for a VERY long time is this: "Money doesn't buy happiness. But if you're gonna be miserable, be miserable making $100K, not making $40K"
I saw an ambulance screaming to a situation today. Doesn't mean I had a great day, just means it was better than someone else's.
Same here, ICE arrested a second grade teacher for trafficking of child porn.......... was not my kids, so I guess my day was ok.
Did they go all Rodney King on the guy? Sick bastard. There's a special place in hell for scum like that.
he is looking at 18 counts (all federal charges, 130 years or so of time) he will get his in prison. Even the hardest of criminals have a code, and one is you do not harm children and those who have been convicted of such atrocities are usually killed in prison, or raped, beaten daily or whatnot....... shit, thinking of that made my day look awesome!
Thinking of the teacher getting ass raped put a smile on my face! Thanks buddy, you just made my day!!
Congrats on the new job! My happy story: The smart cover on my 64gb 3G iPad 2 came demagnetized and my device fell on my coffee table and cracked the screen. After Talking to the manger for two days they swapped it out for a brand new one on sunday, Very happy! Jason
