As if being a full time Engineer, running eShine and keeping two kids busy doesn't take enough of my time..... I now just set up a powdercoating shop in my garage! All these machines were custom built by me

Well after 2 months I am ready to powder coat again. Here are some pics,

From left to right, Blast Cabinet, Powder booth, Oven.

    4 foot wide blast cabinet,

Inside of powder booth. Made of aluminum 4X4X4 foot with a 3.5 foot turntable.

I added this door for cleaning. Once the job is done I can clean my gun inside the cabinet and the powder gets sucked out the vent. I can also clean the entire booth with compressed air. I did a job today and tried this function, gun and booth clean in 20 seconds!

My oven, 3x3x3. PID controlled with thermalcouple timer. Once the parts are in I can set the timer and walk away.

My vent unit is hooked up to all machines and I control the flow to each machine with blast gates. This keeps the dust out while blasting, Keeps powder from entering the garage and takes away the fumes while baking the part.

Just coated a few parts and the new system makes it an enjoyable hobby, the parts came out nice! Now I just need to clean the garage and setup a workbench! The work is never done..........

Hmmmm.....Too bad shipping would be outrageous...I have a few projects that need to be bolted on that would look better powdercoated than painted :shead:

That is very impressive Chris, simple yet effective.I love these kinds of home projects.
Now all you need is a MIG welder to do some welding as well, you have the space .
    How about a sand blaster?:applause2:

You know when I first saw it I thought it looked like a sand blaster but didn't want to say anything and look like an ***:gasp:
I admit I didn't look hard enough to see the mig welder,WOW your all set.:applause2:I did use the home oven to powder coat and my wife almost kicked me out .

Do you have a system to retrieve the sand to reuse?

That is a great setup. It is a talent to build that all by yourself that I wish I were able to do. I am in awe. I am jealaous and a whole bunch of other "I am's" that I will not bother to list. I wish you were my neighbor, my best friend, my brother, or my brother in-law. I guess there are a few more wishes in me as well.

    Bottom line ..."you da man!!"
