I also wash with just one bucket. My foam is sprayed onto the car with the foam cannon and I only use a "rinse" bucket...
I only use one bucket too, for some reason for years I have just been using like 5 sponges per car. As soon as I have safely used each side of the sponge I put it to the side and move onto the next one. I know it seems silly but it assures me I am not transplanting dirt from one panel to the next. Plus when you can get grout sponges for $1.65 at Lowes its no big deal.
I use two, but not the same way you guys do.......... I have a bucket for the top of the car down to the bottom of the window, and a second bucket for the lower half of the car, both with grit guards.......both with dedicated wash media. With the uber sponges you can see when they have sediment on them and i rinse them with a hose when needed or rub them on the grit guard and the sediment is gone; instead of dipping them into a third bucket. works for me..........
Thats interesting do you use double the amount of soap per wash Karl because you have to make 2 buckets. And what about rinsing... you let your 2 wash buckets get dirty then?:shead::yikes: I just use 2 with grit guards, I used to use 3 the third solely for washing my wheels, wheel wells, and exhaust but now that I snow foam, its not really necessary.
I use grit guards.... yes, I use double amounts of soap, Why do you guys act like shampoo is gold, that stuff is cheap cheap cheap......... what about rinsing? This is a commonly practiced method believe it or not. AND OMG, sometimes I just use ONE bucket..... You think ill get kicked off this site? Here is how I wash a car if its a maintained car, so there is no more confusion LOL. pull into garage wash down wheels and tires, undercarriage etc (with a seperate bucket) I have 4 buckets when I detail a car.........its quite absurd actually Pre soak with foam rinse down (now the majority of sediment should be off the car if you are using a pressure washer) THEN break out my two buckets two grit guards two uber sponges put excessive amounts of shampoo (lol) in each bucket, and proceed to wash top down in long straight lines until i get to the window line, then I switch to the second bucket and sponge and continue around the lower half of the car. all the while Im rinsing my sponge with my fire hose nozzle and or rubbing the sponge on the grit guard this works well, it has worked well for me for 15 years and honestly ive tried the other way, and I find nothing wrong with it, Its an old habit. Sorry if you guys got confused or are disappointed LOL

AH... OK. lol well I will take a picture if I can of my neighbor using a walmart type car wash brush on his Challanger.......... always makes me laugh
One of my two blue Home Depot 5 gallon buckets cracked, so I'm having to do with just one bucket until I buy another one. Not the end of the world.
