Lake Country fail

I used this pad (Lake Country course green) exactly once, and it came apart. I'm lucky that, I didn't have any pressure on the pad when it self destructed.

 

Rotary or Random Orbital? Who did you buy the pad from ?

That has happened to me before with LC pads when using the PC.

 

May just be bad luck and a bad pad. I only have LC pads and none of them have given me any problems yet.

 

Time for some Uber pads!

 

PC 7474. Bought from the pad along with 5 others from AutoGeek.

I wonder, if I could just get some spray glue or something to fix it.

 

This happened to me a few times using CCS pads. They are cheaply made IMO.

 

Used to be when this happened, the vendor would replace the pad/s that failed and sometimes wanted the old ones back or a picture of them.

I think using any Pad on a Random Orbital will heat up the back of the pad quicker than when used on a Rotary, because there is more motion going on, its going on at a slower rate so there is less cooling available, and the User will sometimes put pressure on the pad which will have to make it run even hotter behind the pad where it attaches to the backing plate.

I just remembered reading something from TID a few years ago where they said that even if you keep the pads somewhat moist to help keep them cooler the actual moisture will turn to steam behind the pad and that will cause the microfiber backing to delaminate...

Then the manufacturer came out and said they were using a better, stronger, glue to hold the microfiber backing in place, etc...

It seems like not every vendor sells the exact same L/C pad as another vendor. Maybe some are made with less attention to durability than others ?

Who wants to elaborate on this ?

I guess I'm part of that club. Because the pad is a Lake Country CCS.

I use LC pads from both eShine and AutoGeeks, both never gave problems. I use a rotary though.

 

I have a couple pads, which I bought with the polisher 4 years ago that are still doing fine.

I also use Rotary Power for 98% of my corrections, the 2% going to the front and back end of vehicles where a Rotary will not get in there as easy as a Meguiars G110V2 with a 3"-4" pad will, and the correction is such that I don't have to spend a lot of time doing it.
I also have never lost a microfiber backing from a pad using a Rotary..

I think it could be a bad pad as well. I have had some bad pads in the past from a few places before. And I use both rotary and DA.
