3D & HD Car Care Products

I have HD nano poxy, and it is one of the best looking sealants for sure.

The new nitro looked like a product I would've like to have tried, but if I'm reading the directions correctly, you have to use it within a short time span after opening the bottle.

Fender looks great on the above van btw.

 

That is why it is interesting to see the products mentioned here finally. At the other place they are hailed as the best ever without really any argument and nowhere else do so many agree that any product is the best. Asking about them there seemed like it would be about the same as asking what oil is best on an amsoil forum.

I can't tell how much of that is from the shade, it looks like the front of the vehicle is more in the shade than rest. And I thought I read elsewhere that the front had been polished before the application. And from what I've seen fenders tend to show off a finish best anyways because they have more curves to them, compared to other parts of the car.

It looks like the accepted amount for a 'high tech' lsp is around $60 or so with enough to do between 1 and 2 vehicles. Now that it has been established everyone has to come out with their $60+ coating (except Wolf, theirs does a lot of cars for less)

 

So basically every new detailing product that comes out is the greatest detailing product in the history of detailing ever. Great.



I will wait until some real world results come out and more people use it, I am interested in Nitro Seal but only if it scores bigtime across the board...

seems that way. Funny how supercharged brought up the UPGP. I remember it being everywhere online back around the time I got on here. Now I don't see anything on it.

I think that is why very few manufactures offer sample sizes, because they know enough people will jump on the full size, full price ones and they need to sell enough of those before the next big thing comes along.

 

Yep, that's what I mean. Durability could be double/triple of a long lasting sealant YET THE PRICE is really high AND so is COST PER APPLICATION for the product you are getting...Durability isn't proven either...I don't think I'll be trying it...

Product could be better but I don't see how they justify such a high price...it is not like this is an EXCLUSIVE product...

 

I would certainly hope not as I don't know the 1st thing about LSP formulation! :badidea::shh:


1st off, a big thanks to Phil for allowing 3D to become sponsors on Detailing Bliss and him becoming a sponsor on Autopia! I think this will be a refreshing change for both forums in hopes that each can peacefully coexist like they always have. It is nice to see people mentioning the 3D/HD products on forums other than Autopia too. From what I’ve seen so far, the responses seem to be on the positive side which speaks for itself. There has been some UNO reformulating, but I can only assume that this is typical with many products? After all, the ever popular M105 & M205 were drastically updated shortly after its initial release and I know that Optimum updates/improves their formulas for a lot of their products too. I think this just shows that the people behind the R&D are listening to their customers and tweaking things to move their products technologically forward. I wouldn’t take it as a failure, especially when people are positively responsive to the changes.

Let me go on record and state that I NEVER mentioned that Nitro Seal or UNO is the best. :iddi: I simply started a thread about it being my favorite new sealant. And in reality it’s been a pretty nice line to use in general. That doesn’t mean I’ve stopped using all my other products. I would never do that as no product line can offer the best of the best in all ranges. The main reason why I like NS is because of its uniqueness in regards to application and looks. You gotta admit that applying a 2 part system is kinda different and intriguing? Especially when I’ve found the results so far to be equally exceptional. I can’t speak for the durability of the product either as I’ve only started using it a few months ago. Time will tell though as the time frame mentioned seems quite interesting. So far, so good though.

As far as Nitro Seal bottled product having a short life span; I can say that there’s a caveat behind this in my opinion. I will say that off the record I have been informed that this product can be successfully stored in the refrigerator as long as you make sure to tighten the cap and put the bottles in a zip-lock bag with all the air expelled. This will insure that moisture will not enter the container thus ultimately attacking the product. But, because of the exposure to great danger being in the refrigerator and the possibity of someone mistaking it for something drinkable this storage method is not going to be promoted as a workflow by the company. Just like Optimum not advocating using their coating on the glass of a vehicle. It’s a real shame that in today’s who-can-I-sue environment that companies have to refrain from giving realistic advice to professionals.

 

So this seems to be more of a long lasting sealant rather then a coating like Opti-Coat/Guard and others...But why is it PRICED SO HIGH? Just wondering, because it is priced like a coating. I seen your thread on durability of Opti-Coat, and wanted to ask if you were planning to do such a test on Nitro Seal, and perhaps side by side with Opti-Coat or another Nano coating...I know we are talking about 1 year length durability test, but still...

 

The nitro seal seems to really look great, and if durability is in the 1+ year range, it doesn't seem that expensive (to me @ least) compared to some of the other long term sealants.

I like HD nano poxy very much, and lets face it guys, we all love to buy and try, and this is another great option.

 

I tried the entire HD line a few years ago when Tunch sent me the line to try. Most of the products were good products, except UNO at the time. They are good value when the sales are on, for sure. Nothing bad to say about the products, I think others are still a little sour when 3D bought Autopia.

 

I tried the original HD Uno when it first came out. One 2x2 area was all it took before it went into the trash. I couldn't believe how HD could even release a product that was so hard to remove. What eventually removed it was Mark V Mystique, what I believe HD was shooting for to begin with, a pad dependent polish. I may try their newest version, but after I have used up all my current polishes first. By that time they will probably be up to version 10.

 

Suit yourself, but from a dedicated Menzerna user, then a M105 convert thanks to the KBM and now UNOv3. I've tried M105 and UNOv3 on a side by side comparison. Both worked, but UNO has a creamy like texture and doesn't dust, whereas M105 was watery and dusted somewhat. I've gone the "try everything" approach and have found some good and some duds in the process. What I've learned is that the simple you can make a process, the better it works. Why? It takes out a bunch of variables that clouds judgement as what's working or not.

Example:
Basic detail on a car that needs polishing. Everybody knows to wash and clay, but then the old school was 3 steps with 3 polishes, different pads, rotary, PC, another wash, IPA wipedowns etc - I remember working my butt off to the point of taking pain pills to sleep that night. Now,
after wash/clay, I'll use UNO with Megs MF pads, one step, go straight to POXY on a red pad and be done. How about that? 2 products, 2 pads and I'm done.

I'm testing other 3D products and have Nitro waiting to be tried when I can get some time (anybody with 2 teens knows what I mean!) and as far as price, ain't this the forum that guys pay $$ for designer waxes? ok, pot meet kettle...

 

I would like to try Nitro but $60 for 2 maybe 3 cars is a little steep for my shallow pockets. But maybe one day

 

On the plus side at least it isn't another jar to sit unfinished on the shelf after it is tried


It seems genius to me, I've always wished more places would do sample sizes so I wouldn't end up with a shelf full of slightly used products and they only have these in what is basically a sample size, they just charge the full size price for it.

 

Yeah, like Dodo wax's little jars, PITA to use, lasts about a month and then they sit on the shelf and mock you when you look at them.

 

Hey, I like the Dodo jars. HAHA!.

 

I tried the UNO V1 and had zero issues with removing it. I even posted a video showing how easy it was to remove for me. Sometimes products react differently. 3D didn't stick it's head in the sand, they worked to resolve the issues. I happen to love UNO. It doesn't cut as much as 105 but I would rather do two passes than spend another hour getting M105 dust and splatter out of everything.

Poxy looks amazing, but the looks fade quickly. NS looks interesting but I'll spend my $60 on Opticoat.
