There is really no "shine" in this post but my wife and I went shopping for a C300 this weekend at our locat Benz dealer. There was about 6-7 ~2010 black C, CLK, SLK & E class Benz sitting in front of the dealer. WE start to look at the C300 &350 and i could not help but be appalled at what they have done to these cars.
WOW!! Its amazing that people dont notice how bad that looks. When the Lexus dealership here washed my car after i told them not to i was pissed. I was showing the manager how they scratched it up with their brushes and swirled the hell out of it. He replied "any black car is gonna have swirls all over it thats just what black paint does." Scary how people have no clue.
I know this would make sense as a detailing enthusiast but I seriously laughed when I saw this, atleast you will know how to make it better once the C get's home
its from their detailers using a rotary to remove wax. yes you read that correctly. they hand wax, and then "buff off" the wax with a rotary. i can tell by the pattern of holograms.
that is why most places deliver the cars indoors, in a shaded area etc.......... that way you will not notice it and then they have no liability to the matter. I bought a IS350 It was so halogramed you could even see it in the breeze way where the broker delivers the cars, I refused it. Took two weeks, but I got a new one with the plastic still on it.
The so called "detailers" at the dealership are the 19 year old little punks who think anybody can "wax" a car. Its disgusting.
That's because dealers have "wicked" detailers, to who this is just a job, not their passion...They probably use a rotary to push glaze "into" the paint...just horrible...
WOW! Talk about ruining otherwise beautiful cars sitting on a lot! Similar to what you found and others, I just bought an IS250 for my wife (slightly used)... When I first looked at the car I could see the holograms in it, I mentioned it and that I detail cars as a hobby... When we took delivery the salesman made sure to tell me it had been detailed by there best guy... I looked at the car quickly as we were in a rush to get out of there... and besides inside the handles it looked pretty good... But I had a feeling it was only glazed... Washed the car a few days later with a stripping wash... Sure as $h*t, it had been glazed... I will be doing a correction on it in the coming weeks and will post it up here, as well as send it to the salesman to see what a true correction looks like!
the last Audi/VW dealership I visited had a Volvo wagon backed up into a brand new A8 out on the lot as well as every single one of the brand new Jettas having TONS of wax residue on the lower trim
My Volvo was in the shop for some warranty work for a few days and the car was very very dirty. as a result I got a call that the car was ready but i shold keep the loaner car another night and I was given a complimentarry detail by my dealer. This was in in 1995 on a Volvo 850 Turbo. This was before I really was into detailing at all so I accepted. When I got the car back the paint was nice and clean (car was white) and protected. the wheels were clean, the windows spotless, the exhaust tips clean and shiney and the trim all over was covered in WAX! When I complained, they sent a guy out with a pail and paint brush and put some oily dressing on it and wiped it with a red shop cloth getting black on the paint. I went inside and asked it that would remove the wax. he said oh yeah, it is gone by now the solvent inthe dressing loosens it up and will wash away. I said good cause I am going home to wash it. washed it, wax still all over, went back the next morning and they gave me a loaner can, told me they would remove it. They ended up replacing all the trim. Bumpers, and door side molding ! what a mess for a free detail!
