Detail of my friend's new to him allroad with 90,000 miles of Automatic Car washes !!!

Mechanically, this car was perfect, all maintenance was up to date, the color combo was perfect and a 6MT to seal the deal. However, it had been a family hauler and the only washes it ever saw was from the local Automatic Car Wash, and at some point, a clueless maniac with a Rotary Polisher. The car was HEAVILY swirled and had machine trails everywhere.

On the inside, the interior was surface clean and no rips, tears or stains and we expected an easy clean-up.

    Products Used:

    INSIDE:
    Standard issue household vacuum
Bissell Little Green Machine with Heat
    MF Towels
    Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil
    Leatherique Pristine Clean

    OUTSIDE:
    Uber Blue Clay
    Adams Detail Spray
    FLEX x2
    M105 and Yellow Pad
Menz Final Polish and Blue Pad
    Menz PowerLock
    P21S Carnauba
    Sonax Wheel Cleaner
    Adam’s VRT
    MF Towels

Seats back in and slathered in Leatherique, we let it bake for 36 hours and then applied a second coat of oil. The first coat mostly absorbed into the leather. Then we did a final wipe down the Pristine Clean.

    Exterior:
This was a mess, swirls on top of swirls covered by machine trails. Nasty !! We did a standard cleaning and claying on the exterior, Sonax on the Wheels then moved onto polishing. It was getting dark at this point but we tried to highlight the extent of the swirls.

Great shot of the madness -- the whole car was like this ...

    Afters:

We attacked this with 2 FLEX Machines. The first Machine was outfitted with M105 and a Yellow pad. We had had to do some heavy cutting to just get the swirls out. It took several passes and we really heated up the paint.
Machine #2 followed up with Menz Final Polish and a Blue Pad. I think we could have gotten a bit more depth and wetness had we done an interim polish, maybe IP/Green Pad???

The Final Polish/Blue evened out the finish noticeably and definitely “darkened” the color.

We followed it up with Menz Powerlock and Topped off With P21S Caranuba (aka the buttah)

Here’s the final Product, not perfect, but soooo much better ….

Very nice work, and I spot some nice S4s in a few pictures. Is the roof supposed to be matte?

Yes, the roof, bumpers and fender flares are painted with a matte grey. It's tricky to clean them up without putting a shine on them.

Awesome job! Looks like a very proper detail.

Thanks for the comments -- we're finally starting to get the hang of the FLEX. This was by far our best final result/biggest turnaround. This is our 6th detail with the FLEX.
