    I've been playing with Aquartz for a little bit and I have to say I dont understand what all the fuss is about with regards to its application.... its pretty straightforward and seems to work very well in terms of ease of use and efficiency, far easier than I expected to be honest.

    My application process was simple and pretty much as directed by Aquartz:

    -Damped a short nap microfiber towel (first soaked it than wrung it out)
    -Misted 1-2 sprays of Aquartz right onto the damp mircofiber
    -Wiped up and down in straight lines to get a nice even coat
    -Immediately buffed off the residual product with a separate, clean & dry mircofiber (did so in circular motions to make sure everything was buffed off)

    and, that was it.

    I'll be honest I was hesitant to try another coating because I kept thinking it would take me an hour to get a car done but on my first go I did a 2 door coupe in about 25mintes, not bad and considering you don't need extra layers like you would probably do with a normal wax or sealant, its pretty efficient.

    I have no input yet on durability but initially the product does look great and it feels very slick!

    im swtiching over from Cquartz to Aquartz simply for the ease of application and cure times..............

    So is Aquzrtz a spray? Is it also considered a permanent coating?

    yes, it is a spray and has a different cure time, and application method.

    Does it last as long as Cquartz or opti coat?

    I believe so, check out Youtube, for videos. I am not too familiar with the similarities of Cquartz and Aquartz, I know one is Korean and the other Japanese, and they have different application methods.

    I found this on the AQ FAQ site.
    "AQuartz Crystal Titan PPF Coatings"
    What's the difference between AQuartz Coatings and AQuartz Premium PPF Coatings?
    There are much alike, but there is a small difference in some points as follows;
    1. Titanium and other different chemical contents and those mixing ratio.
    2. Thickness of Film layer;
    - Aquartz Film: 0.3µm, Aquartz Premium: 5µm
    3. Hardness of layer;
    - Aquartz Film layer: ~9h, Aquartz Premium: ~12h

    All painted surface have many paint's pin-hole.
    When the surface is cured, it happens to makes the pin-holes from air aisles.
    It must be covered the surface up with AQ Film before airborne chemical compound and the ferrous particles penetrate into the paint surface.
    1layer Aquartz be coated, it is not enough why Aquartz' film surface have pin-hole also.
    AQuartz Premium make thicker layer, and AQuartz penetrates into the smaller pin-hole to cover car paint.
    So you need to coat 2~3 layers AQ Premium, and AQuartz 1~2 times coating as a last-minute detail.
    A thicker protect/seal film is better, by the way, but so are AQuartz.
    The thicker Aquartz film will protect your car complete

    Dave, thanks for sharing your experience.

    From some of the instructions posted on the Aquartz site, it sounds like multiple applications of each AQ lsp are recommended; it sounds like you just applied a single coat- can you shed a little light on why?

    Looks like this is the stuff I'm gonna go with for when I take my car to college. Seems really easy to use and doesn't look too expensive. I am really curious about the durability though...optimally I want something that will last almost a year.

    i must've missed the boat on this deal. i wasnt aware it was essentially as easy an application as say, applying AJT. thanks for the heads up david.

    IIRC correctly it was 2 years (but I may be confusing it with CQuartz or something else). Opticoat is said to be permanent, which since it's been what 5 years since the first prototype runs with it is pretty good.

    I don´t think you will expect one year durability from Aquartz, 6 months is maybee more realistic.

    If there is only six months durability, how different is it than many of the other sealants or even collinite waxes out there?

    I don't expect 6 months, I expect 1 year... minimum.

    With regular washes I dont see why a coating would not last at least 1 year. Furthermore none of these coatings seem to be affected by citrus based cleaners or harsh soaps, my own car has had Opti Coat on it since October and I have washed the car dozens of times with CG citrus wash AND done pre-soaks with Opt. Powerclean APC.... has NOT dwindled the protection a bit, car still cleans easy and looks great after a wash.

    To be honest I would say people who drive a car regularly, maybe not a hardcore daily driver but not a garage queen either could get close to 8 months of durability (that is some protection and quality beading) from a product like Menzern powerlock IF they wash weekly witha gentle soap and top up the car with a spray sealant every 2 weeks. You could literally extend the durability of any sealant or wax for months just by doing those things alone.

    The new generation of super-sealants claim to be better in terms of scratch resistance, dirt repellancy, chemical resistance, and durability.

    So even if Power Lock or Colly 476 last 8+ months, they could still be wiped out more easily than the super-sealants by things like road salt, bird bombs, chemical spill, scratches from shopping carts, even too concentrated of a citrus cleaner/wash.

    Its not right to judge them just in terms of durability.
