Now that Phil is carrying Aquartz I have some questions on this product. I had Cquartz on my black mustang gt but since it was in an accident recently the bodyshop removed all the coating. I only have 15ml left and highly doubt thats enough the first time around I used up the entire 30ml's because I used the supplied cotton pads to apply it and ran out a little past the half way mark. I then had to purchase a second 30ml vial to cover the rest of the mustang, this time I used the supplied foam applicator and the suede microfibers and it went on alot easier. I did have some issues with marring from my covercraft reflectech custom car cover this made me recorrect the marred surfaces and re coat with Cquartz so that is why I now only have 15ml's left. I really don't want to purchase a 3rd vial since it haven't been to pleased with it since the coating got marred so easily from the new car cover (it was clean just washed and dried hen placed on). I am planning to sell the mustang gt and get a terminator cobra and would like to coat the cobra with one of the following. I do have some questions on Aquartz since watching this video. Its showing to apply Aquartz PPF (red bottle) then follow it with Aquartz titanium coating (black bottle) I only see that Phil carries the black bottle whats with this red Aquartz they call PPF? It seems like a plastic coating if you watch the second video. I really want something that is scratch resistant of course I am not looking for a coating to perform miracles but just to live up to their words.

you know I still haven't really figured out what the red one does yet.

I still want to test it out. As for the black bottle so far all my customers that have it on their cars are loving it.

Have they sent you the red bottle to test out yet? Because if proper application is to apply the red then followed by the black wouldn't we have to remove the black to recoat it?

I am quoting this is from Aquartz website and the black bottle is titanium and the red is titanium premium. Also in the second video they are comparing Cquartz to Aquartz Titanium Premium which is interesting.

"After AQuartz applying, you can see AQuartz PPF on your car surface covered.
The thick of Aquartz Film: 0.3~0.6µm, Aquartz Premium: 3~5µm
The hardness of Aquartz Film: ~9h, Aquartz Premium: ~12h"

looks like the red Aquartz provided better protection from what its listed

Yeah, I hope Phil gets to test the Red bottle PPF AQuartz. Everything points to it being the tougher of the two.

But i'll still have to test the black bottle on the hood of one of my cars that i am testing Opti-Coat and CQuartz on.

mohs scale only goes up to 10 I thought so 12h is rather o.o

Danny, both Opti Coat and CQuartz require 7 days to get to their full hardness. Did you put the cover on before the 7 days? If you did, it's not really fair to fault it. If you waited, then so be it.

To be honest I did not wait the 7 days to cover it, but I did wait the 7 days or more to wash it. Thanks for letting me know that Richy.

Do you think Opti-Coat V2 provides better protection and scratch resistant properties than Cquartz since you have tested out the original Opti-Coat? Since Phil dropped Cquartz and got Aquartz, I am wondering if he found it to be an inferior product? There must be a certain reason for him not stocking it anymore...

Also do you happen know where to get Aquartz Titanium Premium (Red bottle) man?

On a separate note has anyone tried or have used C1 or Nanolex? If you have how is the application and can an enthusiast detailer purchase them?

so has everyone jumped off the cquartz bandwagon and now hoping back on the aquartz

i thought the aquartz was unanimously shunned due to fussy app and the whole quartzgate

I have done a few cars with all of them and they all have issues with applications.

I like them all but the one that I feel has the best finish to touch is the Aquartz its super slick.

I have not. I'd like to as well as the Wolfe's one as well. It seems the easiest to apply of all of them. There is no US distributor for it and at this time, they will not ship it over here. Too bad. Ken has used it and loved it.

I remember it being a bit slicker too. But, to me, the lack of ease of application overruled the slickness. Besides, if you top it with ReLoad, it gives the surface a very slick feel. ReLoad even works very well with Optimum's OC. I'm not trying to piss on your AQ parade Phil, I'm really not. I have used all 3 products and am just sharing my honest opinion. I hope they improve AQ application, then they will be a player again. More competition the better!

nope that's fine I have used all of them as well but when you see it from the end users they love the slickness over no slickness.

I have customers emailing and calling me months after and they love the feel of their car. From one customer I got 4 Aquartz jobs.

I showed them Nanolex, Opti Coat, Cquartz....I know its a pain but if the customer requests its I'm going to go with it.

Opti Coat I have gotten a few requests for it as well.

Nanolex is on one of my cars and it works and looks great. I truly believe that the touch is a huge plus, even though the application to some maybe an issue.

I myself have not had issues with Aquartz, I have done red, black, silvers.

Since you don't leave a real thick layer of the product on the car like when it is baked on the desk with a heat gun in the second video I'm not sure it is a real good representation of the way either product functions in use.

It probably does highlight some of the characteristics of the products but, to me at least, it mostly shows that it will dry in a thicker layer when allowed to do so. Which really doesn't have much to do with applying a super thin layer to paint and the resulting level of protection.

Richy and Phil thank for your guys replies I guess I will wait a little and see what I end up ordering. Since today I went to the local Audi and Jaguar dealership to see what I would get for my GT since I was approved for a loan at a local credit union that had best rate in town (glad my credit is good) and to take a mint 2004 Screaming Yellow Cobra with 20K miles for a drive. They offered me $6500 for my GT. I told them that was too low so the went up to $7800 which was ok. But they still did not want to budge on the price of $25,000 when I offered them $23,000 for it. So I left and told them I was not interested in it for that price. So the search for a terminator cobra continues while I try to sell my GT.

aquartz has mentioned that the red bottle is optional.

When you compare the thickness of the coating especially, it seems like the product to have. I would be interested in finding out more about the red.

Thats why I am interested in the red bottle.:)

From the videos, it's a different application technique than the Cquartz. So just wet a microfiber towel, spray Aquartz on the towel, and just wipe it on the car, then wipe off? Looks easy.

Are the towels still reusable after application and wipe off?

Will you be stocking it any time soon? Or possibly stocking C1 or Nanolex in the future?

Some of you guys may have seen my topic on helping my car survive college, and I'm interested in trying out one of these coatings. What I'm really looking for is durability and most importantly, protection. From reading this thread, I've read that Aquartz is difficult to apply...but what specifically is difficult about it? Other than this, what are the differences between Aquartz and Cquartz? Or is there another coating I should consider?
