Just got a Samsung UN55d8000 and it is amazing. I spent a lot of time researching and comparing LED vs Plasma and Samsung Vs Sony and this tv was my top pick. The clarity is amazing, it looks as if you are in the picture. Yes, the Plasma produces deeper blacks, but this LED tv is not that far behind. The 3D feature is pretty good also.

Yes i decided to go with Plasma too. I took advantage of the Costco 90 day return policy and bought a 46in. lcd and it was quite good but the size was not quite right. I brought the lcd back and picked up a Panasonic Plasma and i must say the pic looks warmer with deeper colours.... The TV technology is getting seriously better each passing day. I just saw a 60 Plasma that was incredible expecially the price around $3,300 .....

I had the same question on my facebook 4 months ago, you should see my set-up now, nothing else like it...TV wise I went with a Samsung 42" LCD series 5..don't go anything lower, mines has got 1080p, 60 hz refresh(with gaming mode), I think 60K contrast ratio, 3 hdmi's and 1 usb so you can hook up your ext. hdd to play .mkv full hd movies.. I also have a PS3 to get my gaming and netflix on and for speakers I went with the logitech z-5500, best bedroom combo ever. Some people think it's 3D....

but here's my serious brake down

-If you only watch HD movies and HD TV get a plasma, its great for the money and it will have a longer life if you treat it properly

-if you do anything above plus game go with a LCD, you don't need 120hz, trust it's not noticeable, even to some TV critics, I play online and solo on the system have never noticed lag and my gaming mod is not even turned on..unless your in a world class clan for black ops, and every nanosecond counts, you don't need more the 60hz

-if this is going to be your main TV and you want to show off a bit plus do everything above get a LED, I'm sorry I don't believe there any other real reason to get it, unless you actually neeeeed the extra brightness or the thinness

full array led is the way to go. it differs from edge lit led. full array offers near plasma levels of blackness. the white levels should be better than plasma.
if youre going for a cheap big screen to watch sports on go with a plasma. lcd/led with their 120/240/480hz doesnt compare to the natural plasma motion and its 600hz. i prefer 60hz and 600hz anyday. much more natural. especially cheaper tv's like vizio. their 120hz gives me a headache.

If you watch sports and movies and do most of your watching in dim light plasma is the way to go. Uses maybe 20% more energy and yearly cost might be $100 vs $80. Heat on new plasmas is minimal... its not a heater at all. Big TV means you need to sit far back. Buy a TV based on how near you are to it to get the best experience. 10ft 50", 12-15ft 55" (thats just a rough thought of what I remembered). Plasma has THE MOST natural motion and it irks me to see those "120hz" things they do, like use the same frame twice, its just very strange... Plasma is cheaper and they should be slightly more reliable.

DO NOT judge the tvs at Bestbuy, FS etc. All they do is tweak some settings to make them appear very bright to 'trick' the normal consumer to thinking brighter=better, which is far from the case.

Its a high speed pure oxygen injected cable giving you amazing picture quality, its better than anything out there! LOL, digital signal is digital signal. Monoprice for me! $3 HDMI ftw!
