so last night i spent the night over at my girlfriends. she lives with her mom, and they have a large horse farm. i spent the night because snow was forecast through the night, and it takes a lot of time to plow out their property etc and i usually just stay there so i can plow for them in the morning while they dig out the horse stalls etc. i do my thing with the tractor, and as im walking back to the house, i notice that all the snow is off of my car. my girlfriend informs me that her mom took the liberty of cleaning all the snow off of my car for me with one of those godforsaken snow brushes. now my nice metallic black GTIs paint is hammered up. it wasnt perfect to begin wtih as i havent corrected it in over a year and a half, but the finish was at least 85-90% defect free still. now it looks like someone wiped it down with a brillo pad. :yikes: i was going to fully correct the car this spring anyway, but im still pissed the **** off that it looks like shit now.
Get yourself somse megs glaze, slap some wax come summper hit it with some SIP+Yellow pad (uber) and you be good as new...oh yeah get a new flex polisher and try it out for me.. but sorry about the car...ekk...i know how that but you will get it looking good again...now just take a brush and clean you gf with it and be like how do you like it eh!?!?
Hey man... your not the only one. My dad thought he was doing the car well brushing the snow off... 95% defect free hood, is seriously messed up. Started a thread to see if theres any alternatives to getting it off.
yeah im just going to have to throw some EZ creme on it this week. oh and about the polisher, id rather wait for the festool anyway. man that sucks. no real alternatives to re-polishing it.
my brother inlaw took a large broom to his nice truck and cleaned off the snow. then he said here tom do your and i was like no way . he thought i was nutts. i didnt feel like going trough the whole mar the paint thing with him. he has no idea what a swirl is. lol
If only her mom could have seen the expression on your face :gasp: when you realized what she had done to your car.
My ex-girlfriends father washed her STi with a brush right after I detailed it, had to go and re-compound and polish out the entire car again only a week or so after doing it, I feel ya.
no good deed goes unpunished eh? yeah it sucks that after hard work someone ruins it without knowing...but hey, they didn't know in the first place right? u can't get too mad at them for it...
As a safety precaution I inform nearly everyone I know to touch nothing but the doorhandle and seatbelt. But I do feel for you.
At least she didnt do the same thing my previous gf did about a year ago. I was parked outside of her place and it snowed that night. When i came outside the next morning she was using her credit card to chip the ice off of my hood! I almost passed out when i saw her doing this. End result was a huge scratch in the clear coat that looked like someone keyed the car. I just had the whole front of the car repainted a few weeks later.
