OK, I'm kinda new to detailing, interested for about 6 month, I have done a lot of reserching but have a question. I normally do a complete wash (2 bucket), clay, if needed Menz SIP, then Menz 106ff. IPA wipedown, Wolfg or Jetseal then LSP. I just ordered KAIO because of all the hipe. But the problem is not sure where this fits in. Is KAIO a cleaner & LSP? So if I wash my car and apply KAIO, will it strip my wax/and or sealant? Do I need to apply KAIO after wash then seal and LSP? Or wash then KAIO and be done with it? Thanks
ggk, thanks, I did think that. So if it does can you apply sealant after KAIO then a wax? I'm not a detailer and do this as a hobby but where does KAIO fall into your arsenal of detailing supplies? Thanks
I just edited the tittle for you ggk, as for the KAIO I still haven't tried it my self, I have it sitting on a shelf at home but just haven't used it yet :shrug: sorry can't help you there.
Yes. Apply the sealant after KAIO. Make sure the sealant is fully cured before putting on the wax. With a sealant, the wax is not necessary, but many people do put wax on top of sealant. In your scenario: wash (2 bucket), clay, if needed Menz SIP, then Menz 106ff. IPA wipedown, (not sure if this is still needed...) KAIO, Wolfg or Jetseal LSP.
Jhawk, Thanks. Seems like KAIO is a intermediate product when you don't need to clay? Or would you use it after claying? Starting to sound like a paint cleanser like HD cleanse or Lime prime.
it is really for when you dont want to go through all the steps. cause it is a chemical polish/cleaner and a sealant. if you are doing all the polishing and ipa wipedown then going to a good sealant like jetseal i dont see why you need it. it will prob only hurt jetseals durability as the sealant in kaio will breakdown before jetseal will. i would keep the kaio for another time or your wheel. i hear it is pretty good on wheels!
Yes, KAIO is a cleanser. It will remove old glaze, sealant, wax, etc... from the paint. That way when you are applying the new glaze, sealant, wax, you are putting it directly on the [clean] paint, instead of old sealant, wax, etc... The easiest way to explain when in the process to use KAIO, is that it should be the last product you use before applying "gloss" products (glaze, sealant, wax).
I realize that Klasse markets KAIO as all of the above, but IMHO it really is only a chemical cleaner.
hey guys i would like to share my experience with KAIO. i have this and it seems to be very good.. what i did was after polishing i applied KAIO then the wax. but it did not glow that much...i used a megs speed glaze which i think the KAIO removed all the glaze from megs.. but it was all good..now i tried it again.. clayed and removed the previous combo and again used KAIO and then K sealant glaze (two coats of if applied seperately in 12 hrs...then waxed.. it was amazing.. very lustrous and very deep gloss..every one and my friends were amazed..other people asked me if i had my car custom painted even though the color of my car is the same as thousands seen on the streets.. not to brag and all but i was very happy with it.. there's my story..i wish i had the pics when i had done it..
Wow you should give KAIO a go see if it can take off rain spots and such. I would try it but I don't have a need for it right now :cool2:
I use KAIO and KSG as well. In fact, KAIO is one of my favorite products. I like the gloss and durability of KSG. I applied 3 coats Memorial Day weekend, and water still beads. My only complaint with KSG is that depending on where the light is, and what angle you look at it, the paint color looks different. I have a torch red car, and from some angles, the paint looks turned to the orange side. I received a bottle of DWG last week, and plan to try it between the KAIO and KSG to see if that helps. P.S. KSG works real well on painted wheels.
KAIO is great at removing water spots (as long as there is no etching). I've used it after polishing to clean the paint instead of an IPA wipedown and feel it adds some depth. I also use it to clean after claying if I'm not polishing. Between details, if I do get a waterspot, I break out the KAIO and then re-apply some wax over it just in that spot. I love it...
the protection of the KSG is great. Mine is still beading and shine and gloss has not faded yet..despite the rain and snow here, KAIO-KSG has worked great. try it and be the judge.. i also don't want to give you false hopes..
I LOVE KAIO, like said above, it is NOT a polish, not sealant or whatever. Its a cleaner, and a GREAT one at that.
