I've seen a 3401 extension being used in various write ups on detailing forums but can't find one when searching on Google. Anyone know where to get one?

I got mine from someone who made some custom ones. Cant find the smooth ones from anywhere..can find 1" ones that are hex in shape from ADS. If you wat smooth ones you'll have to go the custom route and contact a machine shop to cut threads into a piece of round stock.

buff and shine extender, but not the best as it is hex and can really chew up a panel if it touches it. but it is something you can buy for cheap ($5)

one that i have, smooth around other that flat area to use a wrench to tighen...if i was making them i would make them all smooth as there is no need to have the hex cutouts as you can use ribber tipped pliers if needed.

Buff & Shine Rotary Buffer Extension for 5/8" Spindle

One thing you can do is get yourself some pipe insulation (you know that gray foam stuff you put around hot pipes to help insulate them? or roll bar padding and put it around the extension and electrical tape it to keep it in place and that will be pretty safe...or use some foam tape over the extension to round it out a bit.
