I guess you'll find out soon enough, haha
So did you do the rest of your car with RBOE or did you say screw that and switch to blue velvet?

For the photographers, how do I light up the foreground without destroying the colors in the sky in this shot? I tried flash, both pop up and SB-600, didn't come out good at all, and I was losing daylight fast....

What mode did you have set when you took that pic with flash?

U1 mode, which is basically programmed auto with my preferred image settings.
I also tried it in manual mode, that didn't work out too well. (Well I wasn't able to try everything I wanted because I was losing light pretty fast)

i think in manual mode if u set your shutter speed to max low, you should get that effect too. having a stand is also required to get nice pics like that. I sadly havent explored my A350 enough (tho have taken lots of pics with it) to tell u whats settings for exposure n shutter are good for what, and its sadly in Hong Kong :(

There is a certain range that the built-in flash can go...that picture would be well past the limit.

    So option 2:

Multi-exposures with a tri-pod - basically take two exposures in the exact same location. Then do some post process work to combine them in HDR (too much to explain with that).

    - Or -

Shoot the photo in RAW mode (uncompressed). I'm not familiar with Nikon's but that should be in the menu system somewhere. Take the photo then during post processing, make two copies of two differing exposures (one so you can see the sky, one so you can see the foreground). Then do the HDR work.

Trust me...there is no easy way.

Sigh..... I'll just have to "find" a copy of CS somewhere I guess. Thanks for the suggestion guys, I appreciate it!

I think I'm gonna stop buying detailing supplies for a while to save the money for
    1. Tokina 11-16 2.8
    2. Nikkor 24mm 2.8
    3. Nikkor 50mm 1.8
I already have Nikkor 35mm 1.8, getting those would complete my small collection of lenses lol

Stick with number 1 and 3 for the focal range.

The 24 prime is redundant with the wide-angle Tokina (plus for a prime, it isn't as fast as it could be).

Tripods are a thing of the past with modern DSLR technology... unless you are taking full on night shots you shouldn't need one.

Car looks good man, but clean it :D

On a side note, look what I got today :D

77mm Hoya UV filter? Wonder what it could be for?

    Hmmmmmm, Tokina eh?

:applause2: I like it so far, well build, heavy lens!
AF feels just as fast as the Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 I tried out in the store, build quality is also on par with the Nikkor. Images are soft at the corners @16 f/2.8, but super sharp @ f/4. All the other ranges are sharp all around @ f/2.8.

Sure there is, some cameras do HDR natively. OP, stop wasting time taking pictures, complaining of 50 degree days and wash your car....
