A co worker of mine purchased a 2010 Nissan Armada. I talked to her about applying a sealant on the paint work..she said her other vehicle needs it more than this one, she asked me what product I would use on her tires, I told her I use a product made by Optimium tire shine. She would question me is it watery or like a thick gel, told her is a water based product..she said a friend gave her a product a while back that was a thick cream based product and asked if I knew any product like that. I told her i haven't know any product like that and said let me look into it for her, after this discussion she asked if I could take a look at the vehicle she wanted me to take care of and said yes I would come by and take a look and give a estimate on the condition of what I seen. I went over the vehicle with her ask her what was more impotant to her she replied that the interior needed the attention which I understood. I gave her a estimate and the process to her. She wanted me to look into a cream base product for the tires, so my question is : does anyone know of a product like the one she is inquireing about? Does Optimium make a tire product like this or anyone else does? I will be doing the vehicle on week of christmas. I have enough time to place a order. A long post here but any information on this would help me a bunch. Thanks:applause2:

armor all tire gel is a gel and cream type product that you could get over the counter at a local auto parts store.

If you are using optibond gel, I very highly recommend diluting it 1:1. That stuff is quite thick straight out of the bottle and will buildup around lettering.

Apply it on a tire sponge or a microfiber foam pad. Then after application go over the excess that was left with a wipe down of the entire tire with a cheap microfiber towel. This will leave your tires with a nice new look that isn't all greasy and wont sling the product on the panels.:thumb:

+1, dont get it, it looks ugly when it dries up on the tires. If her friend gave it to her, its prob OTC.

Optimum Opti-bond gel is my favorite tire dressing. Non-greasy matte look, no sling, its layerable, durable, and water based (ITS NOT SOLVENT BASED! IT WILL NOT BROWN TIRES!)

Heres what it looks like, very low gloss, looks like just new tire.

And from further away. Looks like new rubber not greasy or shiny.

Bit strange that someone would specifically ask for a "gel" type tyre dressing. I can understad a request for a a matt finish, or a dripping wet finish though...

Use a product you like. If a customer INSISTS on a product, have them supply it. When you go to the doctor, dentist, hair stylist, do you insist they use your favorite brand of product?

I kind of agree with yakky. As much as I love Optimum Opti-Bond, from what I can tell Optimum Tire Shine is the same thing but in spray form rather than a gel.
I'd like to hear from Dr Ghodoussi what the differences are if there any.

From what I've seen on other forums, Optimum Tire shine, which is also water based, offers similar appearance and durability as Opti-Bond.
So for you to buy another product is rather pointless, maybe you should tell this to her?

I believe the only difference between Opti-bond and Optimum tire shine is that one is catered to people who prefer to apply gel, and one is for people who prefer to apply spray.
On large tires a spray is quite nice and I feel you use less product, and vice versa for small tires.
On my 15" tires for example I really like the application of gel over spray, but on larger tires a spray can be nice.
Lately though I just stick with what I know works, and use opti-bond on every tire.
It never hurts to have too much tire shine I suppose.

I apply optibond with a combination of these two posts.

My Opti-bond is diluted 1:2 (1 part water 2 parts optibond) and its still thick, I've tried 1:1 and it was too thin for my liking.

Then I spray it onto a Tire foam applicator, two squirts per tire (makes like 2-3 lines on the pad, fold the applicator in half together to sort of "prime" the foam with the gel, and then I run it around the tire until I get even coverage and move on.
It dries and sets in about 15 minutes. Once or twice only I have needed to wipe it with a microfiber after applying to get even coverage when using this method of application but it can happen on certain types of rubber and different tires. Sometimes I like to apply a second coat after the first one it seems to bring the gloss up just a bit and increase durability. I do not get sling with this gel, and I have had it last through 4 drives in the rain.

    Thank you! :)
