I've seen many folks that clay glass as part of their detailing process. I've done it a few times too but generally end up feeling like its a waste of time. I'm basing this on the clay not looking like it has picked up much after I finish and the overall shine of the window not being clearly better. Perhaps I have only clayed glass on cars that weren't that mucked up to begin with, but I would really like to hear from others regarding their experience with this. So, what do you think, how effective is claying glass? How does it fit into your detail process? Thanks!!:applause2:
i clay glass since it really only takes but a couple of minutes, i have picked up some dirt from it but most of the time i use it to get stubbern bug splatter off that dident come off during the wash process. i does make the glass feel slicker though when done.
I clay just windshields, unless the rest are beyond my likings. I usually clay the windshield to make sure any type of sealant/ rain repellent has a clean smooth surface to "bond" to.
I clay my windshield all the time hoping that one day all the dings will dissapear. It never happens. One trip to Florida and another trip to Maine made a mess of Windshield. Its a shame that Colgan didnt make a windshield bra. The rest of my car is still pretty much perfect after 19,850 miles. Thanks to the bra. The Lobster in Maine made it all worth it though...
you don't have to clay too often maybe once or twice a year, its as needed. I have seen tons of contaminants removed from windows when the car is neglected. it might be that you don't need to because your car is clean.
