So it's been a couple months since I waxed and sealed my car. So I washed and clayed the car today. I was wondering should I just re-apply my petes wax or should I seal it again too with jet seal first? Btw I didn't strip off the wax. Thanks
Claying the car strips wax & sealants. You'll want to seal then wax if thats your game. I just layer a couple of coats of Americana on my camaro.
Do an Isopropyl Alcohol:Water 1:1 wipedown beforehand. Claying generally removes all of wax, but sealant can be a bit stubborn and some can be left behind.
I wasn't trying to remove all the wax and sealant. I was just trying to add another coat of wax. The only reason I did a quick clay was because the paint was feeling a little ruff.
Just finished. Took me a total of about 4.5-5h to finish (washed, clayed, washed, jet seal and waxed). I'm getting way better of applying a thin layer of wax. I can't believe how much easier it make everything.
Depending on the actual time the protection has been there, how many times it's been washed, the weather conditions, sun, rain and general wear and tare. All finish protection chemicals naturally degrade over time and there's allot of variables that go into how long they'll last on the cars finish. If you wash your car weekly, leave it out in the hot sun, or it's not garaged then what you put on has more than likely ready for a reapplication.
