I'm detailing a friend's motorcycle this weekend and was wondering which would do a better job of cleaning the windscreen on his Vulcan, Stoner's Invisible Glass or Plexus? Or is there hardly a difference? Also, does anyone have any other local sources where I could try to pick up some Plexus other than West Marine. They want $24 a can. :yikes:
On a MC windscreen, I typically use a MF wet with QD to get all the bug guts etc off first as the screens scratch quite easily. Then follow up with Plexus if its available as it will help hide any fine scratches.
You could try calling paintball shop, motorcycle dealer- they use Plexus to clean goggles. Maybe a flight training school or sells stuff for private pilots who use Plexus on the windows. Another source may be a shop that sells raw plastics. How about calling a plastics fabricator that makes stuff like menu holders or display cases? They may stock some or at least point you in the right direction.
Thanks for the help, guys. I did find a local source for Plexus but they wanted $23 for a can. After coming home I looked through my stuff and found a bottle of DG plastic polish. Thinking about trying to polish the screen with that and my 3401/green pad. Would that be too aggressive or should I just stick with using either a foam applicator or mf towel?
I like Stoner's and it's widely available. This combined with a Microfiber glass towel leaves the surface clean and streak free.
