Ok, so reading through a few detail stories I see their seems to be guys the leave the wheel till last to wash and then guys that wash the wheels first.

Is any one technique better here.?

I just washed my car yesterday. I did my wheels and wheel wells first.

Do the wheels first because usually the harshest cleaners you use are going to be on the wheels and wells. If you've cleaned the car first and you accidentally get any of the cleaners on the paint then you will leave them there. However if you do the wheels first and get any on the paint (even if you don't realize it) you will be washing the car and getting them off.

When I detail a vehicle. I do the wheels and wells first then apply dressing to both while I do the rest of the car. That way the dressings have time to dry. So when the client pulls off there won't be any sling.

Wheels, wells, tires and engine first. I also pre-spray any really dirty areas with p21 taw or a bug and tar remover if necessary.

When I use ONR, I do the wheels last.

    Thanks guys.

Think I will keep it to washing the wheels first. The wheels can then also be dried with the car after the final rinse.

Well looks like it's been said over and over but yes I would agree engine bay first then rims, tires and wheel wells :thumb:
