So last week I decided to put a coat of SN on my car, during removal my CG's MF scratched the life out of my paint. This is the second time this has happened, the first time being with my Pakshak towels. I'm going to place an order with Ben tonight I think for a few of the Supernatural towels, but if anyone has any other recommendations I'd love to know. My car is a special breed, easy to mar and hard to correct. I've tried Cobras and they lint, my Pakshaks worked great for the first 2-3 times as well as my CG's. I wash with Microrestore, never drop my towels and they are kept in clean plastic tubs. Thanks guys.
you could try some of DD's towels. It would be cheaper than ordering from Ben. ( no offense of course). showroom fx has some nice towels as well.
Are you putting any pressure on the paint while buffing with the towel? I try to follow a simple rule of thumb when detailing: The only time you should apply pressure to the paint is when polishing. Other things to consider: Are you buffing with the edgeing of the towel? Might want to stay away from the edges. I personally use shag rags and ultra premiums from Justin, with no issues. You should really try the gladiator. Very unique pile on that one.
Pek- I'm not going to lie as I'd love to figure out the problem, and one spot I did apply pressure due to SN being a tad finicky, but besides that no. That spot didn't look any more marred than the other spots. Slanguage, I see what you're saying and I gave Phils MF's a serious look, especially the black one, but I just feel like if the Pakshak towels are scratching I wouldn't wanna know what an all purpose towel will do. Though, if I do hear a lot of reassurance here, I will be more than happy to buy some.
For the record, I have not found a similar towel in softness to either: DI reTHICKulous towel (although ben's plush buffing towel comes close) and Justin's Gladiator towel. The gladiator towel has an almost suede type of feel to it. Much more different than the traditional nap of most mf towels. Another thing you may want to try is spritzing the mf with some FK425 before buffing off. Not even to teh point of "damp". Just a small spritz from a dodo juice mist sprayer or something. What type of applicator are you using? Are you using the solid single foam app? Or the one with the hard edge where they bind 2 pieces of foam together?
I'm using the yellow foam applicators, the cheap one all of the websites sell. I buy them off Autogeek since they always have sales on them. Use them once an toss them. edit I used the P21S applicators this time around.
I was just thinking that maybe the applicator was the problem, not the towel. FWIW, I really like the euro red foam ones, or the UFO shaped red foam ones. I really want a couple of the gold ccs apps.
Both of mine have never linted. Well, not that I recall anyways. So maybe the did slightly, as can be expected with most any mf towel. But I don't recall anything excessive. I cannot say enough good things about the gladiator. If they go on sale again, I will pick up some more. I only have one right now.
wow sorry to see you are having issues. i have had my pakshak towels for over a year with no issues. as mentioned it could be the applicatornot the towels. remember to soak your wax towels after usage to prevent wax build up and try the misting of qd on the towel. hang dry your towels as well. my good towels have never not once seen the dryer.
I have some pakshak towels that work wonderfully with no flaws as well so I don't think that it is the towels.
I just tried to get a decent picture, but the car has too much dust on it to get a decent shot right now. The scratches are very shallow, and usually follow the motion of my hand. I've never had a problem working on someone elses car, just seems that my paint is very stubborn.
sorry to hijack and i hope the marring stops but who's justin and what's his site to get the gladiator.

I pretty much only use the plushest towels now for paint, especially on soft clears where any other towel would instantly marr it. Examples are the ReTHICKulous towel, Bens plush one, and Uber No Names, but the No names were having linting problems. I need to find some soft waffle weaves.
I seriously doubt it was the Pakshak towels. I have some of their towels that are over 5 years old and they work just as good as new. No one on this forum sells a towel close to the quality of the Pakshak towels. Just stick with them or you will incur more problems then less.
Asphalt you recommended me them. Here I just remembered, this towel is the ONLY towel that has never scratched my car. I only have one of them so I guess I just answered my own question on which to buy, but what towel is this from Pakshak. And Justin, in my limited use your towels also didn't scratch my paint, the SuperFly, just remembered that as well.
Have no clue what towel that is. It does look like my yellow Ultra smooth towels though. So are you trying to blame me for a towel that probably didn't scratch your paint. Like I said, no one else has the quality towels that Ranney has. I am willing to bet there was something on the towel or the scratch was already there and you didn't notice it right away.
