i agree, the cheapest is not the bottom line, the company has to be reliable and provide good customer service. I just thought the purpose of the post was silly. i too ran a family business, so when i see someone who is successful in business i am happy for them, and i try to learn from them or their business model, its a free country each is entitled to shop where they want or visit whatever site they want, if someone chooses to not do business with a company that is their choice, but is it really important who sold a product first? as a business owner i just dont like when people bad mouth other businesses, unless they did something that warranted it. its better for the consumer to have many companies selling the same product. i too may not like or agree with the rules of another forum, but instead of crying about it i just dont visit the site.

With topics like this, it is who has the best kool-aid drinkers. I like more than one.

I should have kept my mouth shut.

I've managed a business for 14 years, opened 4 stores under my direction, and help grow businesses for two different bosses. I understand how business works. You may put my intellect under scrutiny if you wish, but at the end of the day I'm just a car guy like so many other people on here. I'm here to learn, share, and explore this hobby. Maybe my opinion is not the popular one- maybe it is.

I grasp that Phil did not invent Sonax. I was just amused by once it gets a name in the detailing arena, AutoGeek swoops in and starts carrying it. You can tell me i'm an idiot (after initially agreeing with me:D), but lets not infer different arguments from what I've said.

Im sure the stores you managed werent the first to sell the product or service they provide. I thought the point of the forum is to share and learn, i dont see the importance of who is the first one to sell a product, it should be about the product and the results one gets from using the product. its amusing how in the all the forums if one or two people say a certain product works wonders, in a matter of moments everyone is on that product bandwagon. the next best wheel cleaner could be purified water in a spray bottle and everyone will want to buy it, if a few people said it worked wonders. its just interesting to me to see how people are so easily influenced and how bad they want to be apart of the next best thing. its like how people think a wax is so great because it cost $500, when it actuality it provides less protection and looks no different than a wax that is $15,,

    bigheffner-

I do agree with you on some points.

Sometimes I think Autogeek is the bandwagon, and you know a product has made it big when they're being sold there. Many people are easily influenced, but that really only goes so far and you know it. People on THIS forum wouldn't talk up a product that does not work- why do you think so many shills get booted off of here with their snake oil talk-up? If this truly is a forum that you frequent, you can't deny it. What you described is very indicative of some detailing forums, but again, not this one.

Let me give you a little peek into why I feel the way I do about this subject. 10 years ago, I had someone steal my intellectual property and go on to open a business with 4 different locations in the Boston area. I actually know what it's like to put my efforts into something and have many things I worked hard for used against me, and in direct competition with the business I was running. Too bad he's bankrolled, or I'd own him. While this is not the same thing as the Sonax subject I posted up about, a common thread runs through it for me.

I'm not putting Phil on a pedestal. Just understand that he's the one that gambled on a few pallets of product, not the people on here talking about it.
