Read lots of talk of 3m PF over on topia about its long durability, quoted at 6 months and outlasting Collinite and DG. Pretty cheap as Big Lots has it for a few bucks and thought I would ask to see if anyone has used it on here and if it really does outlast Collinite 845 or something.

There is a $5 rebate for it out as well right now so it is free or more money back to you if you get it from Big Lots. I went by today to one in Greensboro while I was there and all the bottles had sealant over them so I didnt grab one.

I did grab a Armor-All drying towels for $4 to dry door jambs as it was cheap enough to get dirty if it does. Feels pretty soft, 80/20, feels like the Vroom ones at target.

I'm heading over BL tomorrow to check if they have it in stock. I love Collinite and DG, but I wouldn't mind something that lasts longer. My dad won't let anyone else touch his car and I only get to work on it every 6-8 months, so this might work better than Collinite/DG.

Two coats of Colli 476 will last more than 6 months without issue. As will two coats of Werkstat AJT. Coincidentally, I sell both! :)

I just came back from Big Lots and got my bottle for $3 bucks ... I got way too many LSP's, but $3 bucks won't hurt the bank account.

So I bought the Performance Finish from Big Lots for $3, sent in the MIR for $5. Then did a slight google search and found that it's a silicone-based product.

Probably will not be using it now...

Why do people think silicone is bad for paint? It is only bad for painters as it can cause fish eyes but that is taken care of when they do the pre-wash to remove all wax's and sealants. On a cured paint surface silicone will do nothing to the finish but help sheet water, slickness, bonding, and add to looks.

There are many product/wax/sealants that have derivatives of silicone in them and use them without issues. On rubber it could be a issue, but on paint no issue at all.

So I say go for it man and use it, no harm it will do at all to anything.

  11. So is this supposed to be used as an LSP?

It is a sealant, like PowerLock, WG DGPS, but suppose to last pretty long.

can you tell the % of this ingredient as they have filling ability .

this wax i dont find in my local shop seem to want to go just after a love stuff (imp hand glaze)

  14. It seems like it's more like a glaze and not a true sealant...

I applied PF to my car then my truck, waited 24 hours and applied 2nd coats. I know its new and the beading is Outstanding but only time will tell. Now I have to find out what I can put on top of PM. Carnuba???? Turtle wax???? anything to enhance to deepness of the shine? I hv checked other forums and no one has commented on this. Does anyone know and hv proof of thier testimonial? Samc

man wish we had Big Lots here. I say use it. If it has filling abilities that really shouldn't matter. If you know you keep your car in good shape then you really have nothing to fill or be worried about.

How bad can it really be coming from 3M which is a really reputable company and to top it off it's less then you would spend on some fast food so it's easy on the bank.

I'd wait till all of the Paul Dalton hype is over with 3M. No doubt that they make good products, but he's definitely endorsing them and I'm assuming we're experiencing a trickle down effect.
