Just wanted to see what you guys thought about the "Perfect It" Rubbing compound from 3M ive been using it for few months now. I use with dewalt and green or white hex logic pads so far. Pretty good results. Anybody else used this?
There are many that use 3m polishes but mainly 3m uk polishes as they seem to be better than what we can get in the US. Only one that is the same is ultra-fine but the other two are vastly different. You will also see alot of people, more so than 3m, use Menzerna and Megs.
Alternative polishes - • 3M has upgraded its Perfect-It Paint Finishing System product line to better work with the harder clear coats • 3M™ Perfect-It™ 3000 Extra Cut Rubbing Compound, 06060 • 3M™ Perfect-It™ 3000 Ultrafina™ SE (US) 06068 / Ultrafina SE (UK) 50383 • 3M™ specifically recommends starting at 1000 rpm, working it in at 1800 rpm and finishing at 1000 RPM. Menz are still my go-to polish / compound
It is a little aggressive for paint that is in good shape. However I have used it after wet sanding and it did a great job of pulling out the scratches and buffing to a decent shine. Still a little too aggressive and left some minor scratches, but that will also depend on your paint hardness.
yeah its mostly used after wetsanding in body shops . probably that and microfinishing compound are the most popular
I've used their white/black/blue labeled polish/compounds before, I honestly forgot the name. I like the black&blue label polishes, but wasn't a big fan of the white one. Sorry if I confused you even more haha.
this is what im talking about also what machine/pad combo works best for you ? i have been getting good results with the dewalt and a green or white pad. It does dust ALOT which i dont like i do like its ability to cut pretty fast and do work? Would the menzerna line work for me:? i usaully am doing cars with dewalt then switch to p/c to do polish then back to dewalt to jewel. what menzerna products do i need?
i used it and was happy with the results but dust was a small problem. found menzerna and like them more now. ease of use is important
