I apologize first for not having pics, they will come later when Daniel takes some shots outside. I try and help out fellowDB members as much as I can and didn't have time to grab a camera during my trips. I will just do the writeup and you guys will have to wait in eager anticipation for pics. This audi have to unfortunate run in with a bird with the most corrosive acid crap on record. Apparently the doodoo was only there for three days. Anyways I mapped out the hood and the reading were really high do to the fact the audi was white. I was getting readings of 240+ microns. I am guessing that the majority of that is white primer and a good thick coat of white colour coat not lots and lots of clear. The process was pretty simple or so I thought. The clear was like polishing granite as richy would say. I started with 3inch pads and had to move to 5inch pads as I was getting anywhere with the small ones. This was just the hood and the removal of the etching in the top right corner of it. The process: Started with wetsanding out the etching with 2500 grit sand paper Tried Pf on green GI pads after and got nowhere Tried yellow GI pad and UCCL and got nowhere Moved to PG and a white GI pads for four passes and finally was in business Finished up with PF and GI green pad for a couple more passes on our way to perfection. I had a good chat with Daniel and got a new Audi to polish up. Well it was lots of fun and some good chit chat along the way, and best of luck Daniel with the PC on that baby.
can't wait to see the photo's. Audi S4's are so sick! With micron readings like that it is pretty safe to say the vehicle was repainted. I know for a fact that majority of the painters here especially friends that spray cars on the side tend to use a little more clear then what the factory had.
actually the car is new, the fact it was white would lead me to believe that the colour coat and coloured primer are thick. the whole car was that thick everywhere
Pics will only be of a perfectly finished job from Bryan. Like Bryan indicated I had a flaming taco bird poop on my hood for three days and then I go to detail the car and since I am new at this I called a proffessional to fix the etching since if I did it, it probably end up in the paint shop. Anyways pics of a perfectly finished job will come next week when I get my camera back. Thanks to members of detailing bliss for referral to Bryan and thanks to Bryan for responding and getting it done on the day that I called him. Now I can sleep much better. Also Bryan was not only great at getting the etching out but also helped me out with tonnes of information on how to detail my car.
