Mixing SIP with PO106FF?

Hey fellow detailers :worship2:

I'm not quite satisfied with the cut of PO106FF, but I like the way it finishes. For a 1-step polish on a dark colored car, would adding some SIP to PO106FF slightly increase the cut while still giving a nice deep finish?

Or if I should stick to one single Menzerna product?

are you talking actually mixing them and using them at same time expecting to combine properties of both?

 

I'm not expecting 100% the property of SIP and 100% the property of PO106FF, but expecting maybe 30% the cut of SIP to get that little extra PLUS that I need.

 

you can try but dont think it will work. one might brake down faster and not gona let you achive what you want. why not use 203? it has cut little less cut then sip but more gloss then sip

 

Because I already have 64oz of SIP and 64oz of PO106FF hehehe. Ok then I'll stick to 1 product only.

 

Here's the info that I got somewhere else: if you mix the product 70/30 SIP/106fa you will have liquid that will perform on par (equal to) PO203s Power Finish.

True assumption?

 

I see no problem with experimenting with this combo. Just beware there are members of the detailing boards that'll frown upon you for trying to mix products to achieve a specific result. They might even call you a 'hack'.

it can be done with no issues ... you might want to send darkstar752 a PM. He did a one step on my black car last year with 106fa/85rd combo on a blue uber pad. My paint is really soft and this combo performed great!! I'm pretty sure he has mixed 203 with 106 several times with no issues.

 

I have used a similar combo of SIP and 106FA on many an occasion with great success :thumb:

FA can usually be worked longer than SIP so you are in essence getting the most from SIP whilst still using the FA for that wee bit longer to finish off. Give it a try, I am certain you will get the results you expecting!

I mix polishes quite a bit. Sometimes I will add some 85rd to powergloss to add some lubrication. When using 1z proline polishes, I will mix the intensive paste with a drop of high gloss polish. I say experiment and find what works best for the given situation. Every paint can and will react differently.

 

Ive got a ton of 1z intensive paste if you want any. 5L to be exact.

 

I regularly mix Menzerna polishes and find it can yield better results if you are looking for a combination that slots between two regular polishes or if you want to finish down better. My favorite is 3 dots of Power Finish and 1 dot of PO87mc which gives a great LSP ready finish which is sharper than Power Finish alone but still possesses similar cutting levels.

 

Step down to a softer pad, then you will get good cut from SIP but also a nice finish.

Sometimes I prefere to use SIP then PO106FA as a one step polish, beacuse SIP will remove much swirls then PO106FA, but it will also leave a less glossy surface.

But to ordinary people, the car will look better since more defects is removed then just a more glossy paints but with more defects left.
