I layed down 845 on the DD as part of last fall's detail and after a Chicago winter I can state that I am more than impressed with 845's durability and continued great look. I washed the DD this past week and the protection is still solid and it continues to look fantastic (see pix below). For the upcoming spring detail I was planning on trying out the new Menzerna Power Lock and topping with CG's 50/50, but I am really considering staying with 845 year round (maybe top with 50/50 for a little extra summer "pop"). Anyone run 845 year round and like the results? Do you top 845, if so what do you use? Thanks!
I use 845 year round on my fiance's Explorer for two reasons, 1. I just don't get around to taking care of it as much as I should so I like to know it has a durable coat of wax on it, and 2. the Explorer is white, and for now I feel that 845 is the best wax for white that I own. I also put it on my DD in the winter, but stick to other waxes that I feel look better for the rest of the year.
I haven't tried using it year round either, but its awesome for the winter. If you like it, then go for it. Its a great wax at a great price.
It has rained here the last two days. I put on my 845 last November and it got bounded over the winter. I have topped it twice with DG Aquawax during the winter. The 845 still beads like crazy and still have a very nice look to it. The only reason I am not using it all year round is because I don't want my Lusso to go to waste.
I use 845 all year round on my wife's car. I don't wash it as often as I would like to and it looks great by topping it off with OCW or Pete's 53. my car is still beading from one 845 coat I managed to lay during a warm day in November (with no prep). The last time I washed it and I just topped it off with AQ with awesome results. I'm planning on stripping this 845 coat pretty soon by doing a Valugard Decon wash. Most people here prefer a nice sealant over 845 during the Summer, but you really can't go wrong using all year long. I wouldn't mind using all year long, but I like trying new waxes/sealants during the Summer.
^^^ same thing from my end. After taking a look at my finish under the sun last week there are so few marks in the clear I am not sure if it is due to the 845 barrier or maybe I have finally somewhat mastered the proper wash technique (probably a combination of both). Thanks for the feedback everyone, something tells me it will be a game time decision, but more input is always welcome .
If it ain't broke don't fix-it. Its what I use on the wifes Pacifica year round. As we all know women never stay still long. At least thats how my wife is.Always asking when you gonna finish .Because they always have somewhere to go. So 845 serves me well.
I would use it year round if it werent for me having a back log of other things to try. Im sure most here can agree. 845 would be the end all for me if it werent for this damn addiction. its cheap, super durable, looks great, and is super easy to work with. Its like everything we ever asked for without the pretty wrapping (and the price tag to go along with that).
I use it year round. I use in the winter as my primary LSP and in the summer I would use it and then top it with a good nuba like RG55. However with my new car and its metallic paint I haven't found anything else that brings out the pop effect like 845 so I may just stick with just it alone.
