what i am using currently in my interior is meguiars quik interior spray and it works fine, but i have always been interested in cockpit premium. How do the two compare? is it worth my money to try out the cockpit premium? thanks for any shared experience or suggestions
I've heard nothing but good things! If you like the matte'est most natural and normal looking dash its def. for you. Personally after I finish M40 I too will be switching as even M40 is too dark and a little shiny for me. Never tried Quick interior spray, but I'm thinking its similar to M40.
I love CP Prep, it has always been my go to quick cleaning spray. I didn't like Megs stuff as much, felt like something was always missing or not up to the job as CP was. I use APC (Opt Power Clean) for dirty things but for light cleaning and a spruce me up I use 1z cockpit prem. You wont be let down.
I actually prefer the Meg's Quick Interior Detailer over the 1z CPP. I actually use the QID as the LSP of sorts for the interior plastic, dash, what not I just wish it was available in gallons
yeah. i havent really found anything wrong with it, but ive always wanted to try out the cockpit premium ever since i started getting into detailing.
i love cockpit premium. so much so that ill probably end up getting the 10L at some point in the spring. i think everyone should at LEAST try it out. even if you like something else better, its still a great product. i keep a bottle in my car for spot cleaning and quick cleanups and wipedowns when im waiting for my girlfriend to get ready.
Thank you guys for the reminder - I'd forgotten about Meg's Quick Interior Detailer. It's a great product. That's too funny. I've been keeping a bottle of CP and a towel in the truck, and have been known to wipe stuff down while stuck at a traffic light. I like the way it smells.
:crasy: HAHA. I may try the new version of Megs Quick Interior Detailer someday. Surprised you dont start dressing your tires while driving. Foam brush with some TC on it on a long reach poll and creep forward in traffic and dress them as you drive.
I still haven't tried 1z CP but I do agree that the Meg's QID is really nice stuff. I believe it's the same as M40.
I like Meguiar's QiD. 1Z cpp just smells bad. Nothing like the original Optimum Protectant Plus. Kinda like a woman's version of Old Spice. HAHAHA j/k.
I love both, but give the edge to the 1Z. We love Cockpit Premium enough that we ordered the 10L bottle of it. Not only does it have the perfect light-lemon smell to it, it has good enough cleaning power that you can use it by itself (we only use APC on real nasty stuff), leaves a perfect finish (doesn't actually add a matte look: it lets the finish stay however it's supposed to look AKA won't add gloss nor dull down shine: just a natural look), and as posted on 1Z's website: adds some UV protection as well. As a big bonus, it isn't slippery at all, so using it on steering wheels or even petals is perfectly OK. Something I really like to do is keep a tiny spritz bottle in the car with 1Z and a microfiber. Anytime the dash gets dusty, spay the towel and wipe away. Now even my g/f bugged me into giving her the same set-up for quick detailing her interior. Don't be fooled though: the Meg's stuff is nice too. Because it's a little more shiny in its finish, wait 10-15 minutes and rebuff with a dry microfiber for a more satin look. It's also locally available in most cases which shouldn't be easily over-looked. My vote is order a bottle of the 1Z Cockpit Premium the next time you order from a vendor that carries it. Chances are you'll love it, but maybe not. If not; you only bought a single bottle. If you love it and have enough cars to warrant it; buying the 10L bottle is MUCH cheaper over time. (.5 liter bottle is around $10 while a 10L bottle is $100 aka half the cost per oz/L/Gallon/etc).
I've used 1Z Cockpit premium and it's very good, but if you have a very dirty dashboard, you can clean it before with 1z plastic cleaner and then with cockpit premium. Cockpit Premium has less clean power than Plastic Cleaner.
Deep plastic cleaner is a great product to use also, I use it all the time before applying dressings to trim and on rubber seals before gummi.
Based on the reviews I got a 10l jug of CP. I'm underwhelmed, not a great cleaner and the protection/finish is debatable. Much prefer separate steps, cleaner/protectant , with Optimum products. Too much $ for a MOR product. Just my opinion.
It's my go-to interior product. Smells great, everyone always comments on it. I don't like anything shiny on the inside, and this leaves a factory matt look. Also great for anything else in your house, like flat panels or LCD screens. Highly recommended!
Oh really? Are you referring to the CP versus QID or QID versus M40 or CP versus M40? Either way, thanks for this insight. I'm interested in comparing differences and will have to buy some CP and M40. I'll probably throw in PB's NL and OPP in the comparison as well.
I am currently using the 1z Cockpit premium and absolutely love it. It has a very nice finish, and a nice smell that isn't too noticeable.
