thats true we didnt use the halogens. they are pretty bright, so they might in fact be T8's I'll have a look tomorrow.
i like Daves shirt. looks profesional. yeah somehow you need to hide all that storage stuff. maybe moving it to one side of garage and somehow sectioning it off so nobody sees it? right now you have it in middle and not good IMO, i dont think your parents would mind if you moved it to one side. having 2 clean garage bays would be best. and maybe have curtain between them so you can store one car and detail another and not get other one dusty. move everything not car related to one side, id say have the part that has the door in it sectioned off.
I love arcteryx. I have their Sidewinder shell jacket but have yet to invest in other quality Arc gear since they're expensive
thanks but since its my father's shop and he works out of it, its very difficult to make major changes without affecting his work. He might be closing his business though but I'm not sure as of now. I might find some way of hiding some machines, maybe with tarps? but for now i would like to improve the main detailing bay which doesnt have to many obstacles. I still have things that need to be organized and put away neatly.
Ev, I would do a larger EZ on the wall and then put smaller print under it saying xxxxxxx Auto Detailing or whatever you want. I would focus on organizing a main detailing bay, you're not going to need 2 that often and you don't need to simultaneously be working on 2 cars, so 1 for storing a car, and a main one for working on the car. In the main bay, just move all the plants and smaller stuff, I personally wouldn't worry about drywalling or putting tarps over stuff for your purpose of detailing. Just clean up all the smaller stuff, and organize your detailing stuff and it'll look great. I personally like a polo w/ a logo, but that's just me. I wouldn't wear it the entire time, just greeting the customer and after. Also, when the customer shows up, have your stuff out and ready, like wash buckets, hose, wheel brush, etc.
i think you can find like a shop courtains so when you need just slide them out of the way id get racks and put all stuff on there or make shelving yourself which shouldnt be hard get those metal shelve things from home depo or lowes something like his has sorry dont as long as it looks organized its all good.
thanks I think the idea of just having 1 may bay is a good one. I really would only need the other side for storage of a vehicle. As for having all my stuff out when the customer arrives, I usually do way before they get to my house lol the polo seems like a good idea for greeting the customer and when handing over/delivering the car. For now i think ill order a few t-shirts and see what happens. My main goals for the next few months are: Obtain my own domain name and improve website greatly Paint my shop walls and ceilings (with designs) Improve my main detailing bay's look T-shirts Also pick up some repeat customers which i am lacking very much as of now
so i had a few minutes to look and the bulbs in my garage are T12. are these less bright than T8 or brighter? sorry im new at the lights thing
also if i'm going to change to T8 can i just change the bulb or do i have to change the whole ballast?
t8's are more effecient than t12's I am not sure about swapping them out, but an fyi, t12's are being phased out due to government energy legislation. Light output is the same though
thanks, ill be looking into swapping them out if this is case. hopefully i will not need new ballasts. i think there are a lot of them in there lol
You'll have to purchase new units as the T8s use an electronic ballast as opposed to the old ones. They run 30% brighter and are about 30% more efficient.
