My best friend has been rather sick lately. Doctors found a mass growing on his kidney and have determined that it needs to be removed. Yikes! So I took two trips to Detroit in two weeks. Both trips involved doctor's appointments of some sort. My second trip also included participating in the Woodward Dream Cruise. My goodness what a car nuts dream. From what I understand cars had actually started cruising Woodward Avenue on Monday and continued to get thicker until the actually cruise date which was on Saturday. I saw everything from Austin Martin's to Smart cars and even Mater from Cars. More pictures can be seen here On Saturday I was able to get some video of what it looks like from a driver's perspective. Video is here My friend cruised with me Thursday and Friday. He enjoyed riding in my GTO and it was nice to see him in good spirits despite what he's going through. Surgery is tentatively scheduled for Sept 9, and I'll be there until he's able to get around on his own. I suspect that will be about two weeks or so.
Thanks for the pics. The shot through the side mirror was nice! I wish your friend a safe surgery and quick recovery. Take care of yourself as well. You won't do him any good if your all burnt out. Cheers.
Thank you for all of the well wishes for both my friend and myself. I'm glad I've got days to unwind a bit to help cope with the stress that both of us are going through right now. I also learned a lot about Detroit. There are lots of neat areas where one can just hang out and enjoy people/car watching as well as some really good restaurants. I was even shown the last place that Jimmy Hoffa was seen alive. Talk about a "wow" moment.
Your freind is very fortunate to have you in his life.May his surgery/recovery go without a hitch. Oh yea, cool pics > icture:
