Optimum Opti-Bond, in a spray bottle?

I had an idea regarding another way to apply Opti-Bond, as with the air gun spray attachment you need to dilute Opti-Bond with water anyway. I like the look of Opti-Bond, but dread it's application.

I have some spare bottles and was thinking an making a small concoction of
Opti-Bond, mixed with say 1, 2 or 3 parts water. I imagine the more it's diluted with water, the less shine/sheen it will have, but will it last any less?

Has anyone done this before?

 

I do! And it works great! I cut with 1 part water so it's 1:1. Spray it on, let it dwell for a while (15-20 minutes) Then use a CG Tire applicator to spread it around nice and even. Let it dwell for a few more minutes. And wipe off any excess. It leaves the PERFECT look for me. I'm really glad I decided to try it.

 

Awesome news. That's what I liked the least about OB was the application. Going to mix it at 1:1 when I get home from work today.

 

Has it been holding up well @ the 1:1?

 

I just looked up the Tropi-Care dressing from the other thread, the Opti-Bond @ 1:1 yields to be a little cheaper, not bad.

 

It doesn't hold up QUTE as well, but it really helps with the application. I'd rather apply twice this method than once the other -- I felt like I was using WAY too much.

Customers seem happy though, and I'm using less product and time so it's win-win

 

I've never experienced a drop in durability by using it 1:1.

BTW, ofcourse with any dressing, you want a completely clean tire.

When I apply optibond over a tire that's been washed with just ONR it just kind of spreads over the surface but takes longer to soak in. Still no sling though. But when I dress a properly cleaned tire optibond just soaks right in and this is when it lasts its longest

 

It's great for professionals with a spray gun, but yes you can use a spray bottle just fine.

Got a chance this past weekend to create this 1:1 solution and dispense it via spray bottle. I LOVE IT!

Makes applying Opti-Bond SOOOO much easier. I spritzed onthe tire every couple inches, making my way around the tires. Used a Cobra tire applicator to spread the product evenly on the tire, and let it set. Initially it was a little "watery" on the tire, but the sheen was there and a good amount of it evaporated/soaked in and it was good. I did NOT wipe the tire afterward to pick-up any excess.

Now using it straight, I did not notice any sling. Using this method there was a little bit of sling, but I'm sure most if not all future sling would be taken care of by wiping the tires with a clean MF or rag.

I did not notice a difference in appearance as compared to using it straight, non-diluted @ the 1:1 ratio.
