So I don't know if this has been posted on here or not yet but I was walking through Pep Boys today just and I never noticed this before but Black Magic has a window tinting kit. This cannot be a reliable product, can someone prove me wrong? I don't think I could ever tempt myself into buying it. I would be interested to hear some thoughts. I can just see it peeling off of windows and turning purple hahaha
Agreed, my buddy bought that for his rabbit, I have to say, at first the job looked like it was done professionally and nicely, however, the driver side tint is starting to show some tear.
What's in it? And what's so surprising? There's not many tools you need to tint a window. Film, Soapy water, and a razor blade will do the job.
I guess I am just surprised that a detailing supply company is mass producing a package, more props to them for the idea, I just guess I feel like it wouldn't be the greatest quality, but I don't know until I try, don't know if I want to lol
That's correct. The process is pretty easy. It's the quality of the film that makes the tint job. From what I've found 3M seems to be the best film out there.
I'd be interested to learn more about this process, if you're willing to share. Tint is something I've always wanted to learn how to do, but I've always gotten scared off, because people tell me it's quite difficult to do well.
It works much in the same way you would apply decals. Once the surface is clean you just use a spray bottle with soapy water and spray down the window. Apply the film and get in place. Then use a plastic chisel to push the soapy water out to the edges and let it dry. Some people also use a heat gun. I'm no tint professional, but that's how I've seen it done.
