While picking up my clients car this morning he asked me where he could get a "QUALITY" car caover for his New BMW 650I Coupe.

Normally I will just tell Client to pick 1 up at the Dealer, but I thought maybe someone on here may have a good source?

This Car sits "OUTSIDE" 5 days a week/ 12 Hours a Day so it will be exposed to ALL Elements, hince "QUALITY COVER"

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Flash Gordon :chips:

My main concern over a car cover would be paint safeness(is that a word?) rather than durability. I know many have the ability to marr the finish. The good ones can cost thousands of dollars.

I am anti-car cover. No matter how well they say they work, there will still be places where the cover is up against the vehicle with tension. They have to cause damage, I can't see any way even the best cover in the world would not damage the finish after a period of time.

I own a Covercraft Noah car cover. It is supposed to be one of the best out there but I can say that it does add scratches if you install/remove a lot when there is dust on it. It was the most obvious on the top of cab (for my truck). I can fix that usually but parking under pine trees can also be even more damaging. My cover is a tight fitting cover (form fit) and quite large (duh, it's a truck) so you have to slide it some on the paint to get it off and on. The ideal case is to do it with two people.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions

I can totally see where the cover would cause scratching/marring. Especially being a Daily Driver. This Car is also "Monacoblau Metallic"(Navy Blue) so its gonna show swirls/ scracthes like crazy.

I Detail this car every 45-60 days and he does not do anything to it in between(no swirl-o-thons) So the Paint will be fine, its more the Leather that takes the brunt of the Damage.

I tried talking him into tinting his widows on his last ride, but he said he doesn't like tint.

Maybe he will remember the Damage to the Leather on the last Ride and take my advice to get to liking Window Tint...lol

But he might not, so I appreciate everyones advice on there favorite Cover

put some shag rags at the contact points, between teh paint surface and the cover. Those effers are soft :D

I have a CoverKing car cover for my silver metallic car, and it works pretty well (car sits outside near 100% of the time). Agree that nicer ones can cost several hundred... never seen ones that were thousands though.

Your client has a 650i, and no garage for it? :thud:

    Two-cover system:
During high winds the use of this system will avoid paint surface marring from the cover being buffered by high force winds (Hurricanes, maybe more relevent to FL)

    1. Dustop TM- 4 layer cover with maximum dust protection and its soft inner layer protects paint.

    2. WeathersheildTM HD- primarily for intense sun environments and long-term storage provides optimum protection from a multi-layer breathable (heavyweight) fabric.

    No problem! :thumb:

Honestly, I would think twice about using a cover for daily usage - I only use mine when I have a chance to make sure the car is freshly washed, and do not intend to use it (the car) for a week or more... in those cases, I'll sometimes use the cover. Wouldn't put it on top of an unwashed vehicle though, due to the aforementioned (by others) risk of introducing marring/scratches/swirls. My $0.02... YMMV.
