Grant was transfered to another hospital (unscheduled) to undergo some further tests as well as to recieve care from a special unit with more experience with his problems. The transfer itself was the most dangerous as he is still linked up to various IV's and the ventilator. The transfer went well and he is currently still stable at the new hospital. He underwent various scans, x-rays and tests today, the results of which will only start coming through tomorrow or within the next few days. The specialists there say he is still seriously ill and will need more surgery to try and fix whatever it is they suspect is still causing problems. Only once all the issues have been resolved can they start on the reconstructive process but by all accounts it is going to be a very long and slow process. Hopefully some of the results will start trickling in from tomorrow and we will all have a better picture of how the situation is progressing and what the plan of action will be. Thanks again to all you guys for the thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement. It is appreciated by all concerned :thumb:
Hi Carn, I just joined the forum and wanted to know if there was any change in Rustbucket's condition? From the symptoms described it sounds like silicosis? I hope it isn't. Hoping for the best, Derrick
Hope everything is going well. Any updates? Just wanted to check in to see how you guys are doing. -Roger.
Carn, sorry I'm so late to this one....but my prayers go out to him and his family. I been there before and its not fun.
Howdy guys, another update... Today hasn't been good at all and Grant suffered a huge setback in his road to recovery. He was rushed into theatre again today to stop his liver from hemoraging and they had to remove his gall bladder as well as the remaining part of his stomach. They have also put a new drain into his Duodenum which will hopefully help the tissue to heal. He has been left open in preperation for further surgery on Wednesday where they will remove the remaining part of his oesophagus along with sorting out a few other things. Unfortunately after todays surgery he has gone into septic shock but he is currently stable(ish) and his vitals are OK for now. Will keep you peeps updated. Thanks for all the well wishes and keep those prayers coming :thumb:
Carn, Is his oxygen level increasing yet or is he still on a ventilator? A low oxygen level sounds like the source of all the tissue damage. Still hoping for the best, Derrick
Man, This is when Detailing Cars really seems Meaningless. I had forgotten about this situation, I will write this on My Prayer List and do My part.
