Do I need a Flex?

I have a PC 7424, I like it a lot. I have been reading a lot on here about the FLEX. Do I need one? I am not in business, just a recreational detailer, wondering if it would be worth it or if my 7424 is enough.

 

The PC can do a lot of work with the "KBM." BUT, without bringing the KBM in to the equation, it depends on how much time you want to spend on a car, and how "perfect" you want them to be.

With the flex DA, you'll spend less time (making less passes) and it's an overall superior machine in terms of power and usability. But it all comes down to how serious you want to get with correction. I personally would recommend it.. but it IS $$$$

 

Just buy a Makita.

 

I think the single biggest factor for getting results with a DA is pad size. The smaller pads correct must factor.

The other fact is polishes. If you use a polish like M105 (get in, get out) and M205 (clean up 105 if adds anything), it helps too since the work time is set. I think these polishes really help keep the DA viable.

 

He won't listen to me cause he's askered. Spy if you don't want to do a rotary, then YES you do need a Flex. Trust me on this.

 

1. Are you achieving the level of correction you desire?
2. Are you acheiving the level of correction you desire in a time frame that is acceptable to you?

If you answered no, stepping up to a more powerful machine will help.

*If you are like me, After you get a flex RO , you will just wish you got a rotary*

lol I was just playin, I am just biased because I just recently started using the Makita and love the results I can get, but from what I hear and see the Flex yields pretty damn good results and I even wish the Makita had that nob grip like the Flex does. I would definitely invest in it if I had the extra dough.

 

If you are even considering a rotary, get the Flex rotary. Its a bit more cash, but is sooooo much nicer to use than a Makita. I used my Makita for years and after the first panel with my Flex, I put my Makita away.

have you ever go back to your makita for any reason or its only flex?.. Your statement makes me wana try out the flex especially i got weak hands..

 

I just wish they were priced the same as the Makita, but there seems to be good demand which gives no reason to lower the price.

I like the flex over the PC for many reasons... The first is the vibration. I simply can't do a whole car correction with a PC with out my arms going numb from all the vibration the PC delivers... I even have both the counterweights... no go.

It's great for applying LSPs.

The Flex is better in so many ways. Quieter, fewer vibes, more power, more ability to correct. It's also better in that there isn't that much more risk above the PC. You really have to be dumb to strike through, although it can...

 

Are you looking at the 3401 or 3403? Since you have a PC already, i think a flex rotary will be a better investment since it is cheaper and do correction better...

 

I have not decided on a model yet, but I am looking right now.

that being said, a flex would be a great machine if you can swing the price of it. I can't justify it right now. makita and a pc are a GREAT combo for me. the only thing I would like the flex better for is one step jobs.

I just bought a 3401. Turns out a friend of mine just started his own business and has them. So I got the 3401 and the bag with 4 pads of my choice. I can't wait to try this out!
