I guess you'd have to use a high oil content polish for warm / hot paint surfaces

what TOGWT has stated is true for abrasives
however with the GLARE and Toughseal product lines, a dry pad is better as the GLARE products repel water

the glare products are ultra concentrated and lubricate the pad and the surface on their own
micro finish for instance, works best at speed 1 of a G220 instead of high speed and even at 2000 rpm on a rotary with a dry pad won't cause any hopping, skipping or hazing

my method of priming pads to be used with abrasives is different
rather than water or QD, I use a natural australian made cleaner known as green aussie cleaner and also Black Baron pad lubricant.
both are non residual and will soften pads and extend the working time and lubrication of polishes

just a small dab of GAC on a dry pad and one spritz of black baron and I can work prima and menzerna polishes for as long as I wish and they never dry up
I spent ten minutes with Prima swirl a few weeks ago, just on one 3 x 3 foot section
the gloss from the seven minute jewelling process was amazing

finished up as good as Menz PO85RD final polish
