Well today was the first day of spring and boy did it ever feel like spring, nice sunny day, temperature in the teens so right after work I took the family for a drive and a walk around downtown. I brought my camera and decided to put the Photography education to good use. Here are some pictures I snapped today, hope you enjoy. Calgary downtown Lots of construction down town. That big tower is called the Calgary Tower...lol...go figure huh. These lions have quite a history, when the City of Calgary was renovating this bridge they weren't going to bring back these lions, well the citizens of Calgary did not agree with that and complained, complained so much that the City of Calgary had no choice but to bring back the lions :thumb: I really like this picture, the timing was just right, the buss was coming, I adjusted the polarizer just right and snap...there you have it....boy just love the way it turned out...now if I can repeat this for all the pictures I'd be golden....well practice makes perfect :thumb: Sorry I couldn't get enough of this bridge opcorn: Again sorry, I seemed to have been fascinated by the lions opcorn: Oh and here is that bridge where I snapped so many pictures from: Okay enough with the bridge, now for different pitures: This building had some nice blue colours on it, I did my best to pick them up...still needs some work to make the colour pop some more, oh well, I need more practice/education. Oooh I really like this picture too, the colours turned out just right...well at least I think so  Another bridge...this one didn't turn out so well though :shead: Maybe if I turn it to a black and white it might look different  I liked the colours on this building, did my best to capture them. Lots of new buildings going up down town. Again tried to capture the colours Colours looked great on this building, so many windows too. These two buildings look good together, love the colours on them Another bridge, this bridge is neat. The LRT (kinda like a subway train to you US guys) passes above a path way. Lastly... Another bridge  Well that's it, hope you enjoyed the pictures. Any suggestions, feed back is always welcome eace: Oh I still need to clean my sensor in my camera not to mention my lens as well, that's why you see some spots on some of the pictures :shakehead:
Oh awesome pictures Carlos! I just got my Canon XSi yesterday! I'm going to go on a photoshooting frenzy as well, haha! Oh by the way, what other equipment do you use (lenses, flashes, filters, tripods, gear bags, etc.)?
Well ever since I purchased my EF 24-105mm F/4L IS lens that's about all I've been using, it's a great lense, I use it for just about everything. Well that is the lens I used to take these pictures. I've been using a Lowepro bag to cary all my equipment around, looks like this: I've also been using this tripod: I've had this tripod for a bit now and boy has it help up well for me, not a cheap tripod but well built and most importantly the wind wont knock it over. Before I got this tripod I purchased a cheap tripod and that didn't last me a week...I broke it within a week I also picked up a B+W 77mm MRC Circular Polarizer Filter and the UV filter as well. I used the polarizer on some of these pictures. I've been wanting to purchase a flash for a long time, but still haven't pulled the trigger on one. I have my eye on a Canon Speedlight 580EX II Flash but I wont be purchasing one just yet...not till I take a course on portrait photography. I still have a long way to go, but the more I read and learn the more it makes sense. Now I need to figure out how to clean the sensor in my camera, not to mention the lens :shead:
Ah, thanks for the info Carlos. I think my XSi has a sensor cleaning feature. :shead: Just like you, I'm still learning a lot and I figured I'd ask you since you're a bit ways ahead of me in the game.
 yea my Rebel also has a sensor...but I'm not sure if it's the sensor or if it's the lens and filters that need a good cleaning. I'll try cleaning the UV filter and the lens first...see if that helps. If that doesn't help then I might have to take the camera to the place I bought it
Nice pics. But that snow makes me sick. I've seen enough this year. Glad spring has sprung here in St.Louis.
Wow, you could frame the second lion one, with the bus and the buildings in the background. That is a beautiful city too I'm surprised.
haha at first i was like temp in the teens warm?!?!?!then my brain put 2 and 2 together and realized that u ment celcius so it made a lot more sence.nice pictures
Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures, I think next time I post pictures I'll try to make them a bit bigger, the smaller pictures don't look so great. Oh get this, Friday and Saturday looked great, nice sunny days with reasonable temperatures oh and yes our temperatures are measured in Celsius. Any who today (Sunday) we Calgarians woke up to a heavy snow fall, I went to shovel the snow and I was outside for about 2hrs..I need to purchase a gas snow blower
 yup, I think you should do that as well...that way we can get to see what you see in your neck of the woods :thumb:
Tell me about it :shakehead: and we are in for some more...oh and we are supposed to be in spring :wall: :wall:
