Well this past Thursday I flew down to Phoenix to vist with my parents, see their new place down there and my moms car! The plan was to play some golf, go to a few auctions, and detail my moms car(more on this later..) and then on saturday head to vegas to see my buddy before coming back to phoenix to finish off what I'd missed. Well when I arrived this was all but thrown out the window. My dad had been at a local auction for the "opening night cocktail party", and there was an offering of a tour of a certain prestigious auto collection in LA. Well my dad had his heart set on me getting out there to see this apparently, and big till he won it...WOW was it worthit. Lambos, 3 or 4 of them, all kinds of corvettes, multiple motorbikes old and new, ferraris, bugattis, duesenbergs, and MANY others. Well I was in heaven, went and did the tour and was time for me to go meet my buddy in las vegas. Flights were stupid money, so I had the bright idea to rent a car.....MAN was that a bad idea. I could only get one rental car, a dodge journey, and this stupid thing takes a dive on me part way there, around Barstow.....well do you think anyone stops? noooope, I am left sitting there, iwth no cellular reception, some rather hot weather, and a car that wont move...superb! I end up missing getting to vegas, towed back to a localized dealer for the rental agency and "sort" things out with them. I still feel rather badly that I haven't gotten ahold of my friend I was on my way to meet. Anyways, sunday sees me at the Barrett Jackson, and wow was that fun. I've been a few times, but never had I been able to do the drag experiance, or go and take some of the fords for a rip. THere were some neat cars, and awesome deals to be found there that weekend. The RM auction had some stunning vehicles as usual, but many weren't taken off of reserve and didn't end up selling. A Vette got to 5.1M and didn't sell, and a Bugatti to 4.6M for a no sale! I head home tomorrow, back to the real world, and more details!!! It's been an experiance to say the least though! I'll throw up some pics tonight.
Sounds like you did have some wild things happen, im just glad that if the car was gonna break down in the Phoenix area that it did it in January rather than August for your safety, most of all glad you made it back to civilization safely! Look forward to the pics
wow sounds like someone had a great time :applause: But um...I don't see icture: ...what gives I want pictures, it's in the contract doncha know :deal:
Oh, about moms ride haha. well I got here and ended up having to go down to the mercedes dealer to have a chat....the paint is white, and i could see the swirls in it, the top is grey and you can see where they obviously tried to wash it improperly(theirs the runs from a powerwasher where the line is clean and then other parts aren't), the leather wasn't as clean as you'd expect for a car with 400 miles ect ect. I have my work cut out for me! On with the pics in a few. I accidentally shot in raw, so photobucket is taking FOREVER!
I'll get the Barrett Jackson ones up tomorrow, that's it for tonight. I have another 15 hours of driving ahead of me in the AM and best get some z's!
Yepp, he bid on one or two cars, but always only threw in one or two before he'd give up. He's pretty well known at the Big two AZ auctions, from what I have been told. I'm curious if he bought anything at the Barrett, there were some insane deals there.
Wow incredible vehicles :druling: :druling: Excuse the ignorant question here but did my eyes see right but the vehicles are being sold in UK currency, meaning pounds? :shead: sorry my experience with such auctions is limited.
Yeah, they were beautiful!! The UK pounds symbol is just for conversion. The auction is completed in US dollars, but converted to pounds and euros as well on the screen. People travel from all over the world for this auction so they do that for them.
He has been ay a few of the acutions and meadowbrook a few times. He owns a dealership that sells classic cars, he is constanlty buying and selling. He know hw to get a deal, trust me I have seen it a few times he also owns a 1930smthin 8L bently in the classic green, it is sex on wheels
