Excellent work as usual Nica! :thumb: I am partial to Brilliant Black Crystal Pearlcoat since my Charger SRT8 is that color. It's sad to see one in that condition, but it does keep detailers in business. Great turnaround!:applause:
Nice work Nica, can't wait to see the rest of it 2 Quick quessies from my side...How does 3M FCP compare to Power Gloss cut and finish wise and how does the 3M EFC compare to something like SIP ?
Well the car is in for a motor rebuild. They guy ordered a stroker long block for the car, and they ended up having some valve issues among other things, so the entire motors being pulled about now. I believe Namala, one of the guys who works at the shop is on this site, so he may be able to elaborate. The car's going to be a fairly stout vehicle though, saw some boxes for brake upgrade components in the back seat as well.
I'll leave this one to carlos, he'd be the best at explaining the differences. I have noticed though, that the 3M products have a ton of lubricants, and REALLY spreads compared to Menz PG.
I'm not sure it's the same company, Davenport that we do our work for is Davenport Motorsports, and has been a Calgary based company for it's entire life, as far as I know. I could be wrong though
Yeah, it was sad to see it in such rough shape, but it was a blast to work on. I always love being around that shop just as it is . I'm almost scared to say it, but I believe that this car is his "beater". He owns a brand new 911 Turbo which is now his winter car, and has a Carrera GT as well.:worship2:
Very nice work guys, love the color also. Pretty hard Clearcoat on this one huh? You will love Scholl S3+, not so crazy mutch dust like powergloss!
Hi, I'm comming in a little late but I would like to say you guys are awesome and I can't wait to see the finished product...:thumb:
The clear coat was quite hard, yes. The odd thing was, in some spots it would soften up and would correct MUCH more easily. We'll have to see this s3 + Just a question, did the fact it resembles an audi name make you want to try it more? :applause2: He's the best at getting us those 50/50s, I just cant get the angles right to do it properly!icture: Thank you very much, I can't wait to finish it off. We'll throw a special LSP on it and get some outside shots(if its not snowing or something unfortunate like that.
Thank you all for the feed back guys eace: I too really liked all the flakes in the paint, looks incredible once it was all corrected oh and the clear coat was tough, like Justin said it was strange though. The door panels were relatively easy to correct wile the rest of the surface areas were really tough (hood, roof and trunk), I was thinking since they are the most exposed areas in other words areas that get touched the most and with the most damage  Pirex, I'm looking forward to the scholl products :thumb: Well this is just my opinion but I'm starting to prefer 3M UK over Menzerna. The 3M UK FCP vs Menzerna Power Gloss me personally, I would say 3M UK has an edge on it. Not because of the cut level, no. I say and edge because 3M UK FCP has more lubricants compared to Menzerna. Menzerna Power Gloss tends to gum up the pad you use, wile 3M UK wont gum up as quickly, eventually it will but usually it will give you more working time and a better primed compounding pad so in the long run you use less compound..but that's just my experience. Hope it helps.
I'll try to answer this as best I can. First I want to thank Carlos and Justin for taking care of this car for us. As always the work they do is outstanding! :worship2: Originally the car was a 6.1 with one of the original GS motorsports supercharger systems on it. It has been in the car for a few years, and then early last year it popped a piston. The owner decided he wanted a big power N/A motor and ordered up a forged 426 stroker crate motor from a vender in the US. He was told that he would have the motor in 3 weeks. Months and months and months went by before he finally got the motor. Most of the accumulated dirt is from the car sitting in his garage while waiting for the motor. We installed the motor and did the break in procedure on our chassis dyno. Unfortunately it seems that the engine builder, in the US, did something incorrectly as the engine is leaking coolant between the block and crank. We'll be rectifiying this shortly. We are also installing a Quaife Limited slip diff, and driveshaft shop halfshafts. Other mods currently on the car are, KW coil overs, and a 6 piston 15" Brembo front brake set up. The car also has a MONSTER Focal stereo system in it. The stereo isn't finished yet so it'll be going back to the stereo shop once we, and Devine, are done with it. The owner felt the paint was beyond repair, and had planned to have it painted after the stereo stuff. Knowing the work that the guys at Devine do, I felt they could repair the damage to the car, without it needing a respray. The owner is one of the biggest car nuts that I know, and just a great guy all around. I'm really glad the guys at Devine could turn this thing around, and save him the hassle of having the car resprayed. Thanks again guys!:thumb: Namala, Davenport Motorsports Inc.
Thank you for that info Namala, this vehicle was a pleasure to work with and we always enjoy visiting the shop :thumb: Look forward on getting our hands on the vehicle again, to finish it off. Hope you feel better, I remember you were sick oh and I still have that sample of Glasur for you
Thanks Carlos. I'm still not 100% but I'm on the road to recovery. Second worst flu that I've ever had! I'd love to try the sample out. Any chance we could meet somewhere so I could get it from you? Namala
Yea, I got the bug at the end of December and then again early January. I got the flue bug really bad in December though, Justin got it early January as well...worse flue that I've been hit with as well, but it was going around and it spread quite fast. Hope you feel better. Oh, I can stop by the shop on Friday. I got to go up that way anyways, let me know if your going to be in on Friday.
