Hey guys, So yesterday I got my order from ben. It had an app pad, MF (which he threw in there cus hes an awesome guy ) and Rubbish Boys Original Edition. 1st of all, i do not think i applied it correctly. I guess i didnt understand the instructions. So would you guys tell me how exactly im supposed to apply. I applied like any other wax (did i go wrong?). Due to that, i do not think my review was fair, and also i didnt do an entire car. I basically did 1/3 of the hood with it the other 2 thirds i used SN and RB JE. I felt myself only comparing OE to SN, which in itself is GREAT. I thought they both afforded very similar results with SN getting only slightly sharper, brighter and deeper looks. however the main part that will determine how many times i will pull the wax off the shelf is the ease of use. OE did not spread too easily (may be my technique) and did not come off very easily. Now we shall see what the durability is! Can you guys tell me if i applied wrong. How did you go about applying it? Back and forth spreading or side to side? was the applicator damp or dry? how long did you leave the wax on the paint before buffing off?
Back and forth but I do not think that the direction would effect it. The applicator was dry, and i left it on for about 30 mins although it was pretty cool and might not have cured completely.

Since the wax is very hard you really need to get some warmth to it to get it to apply correctly. Ben designed it to be applied by hand and the heat from your hands doing the work for you. Well I don't care to apply by hand and like using a foam applicator so I heat the foam applicator before putting it in the wax. Here's my process: 1. Take a plastic spoon and scrape some of the wax out and into the lid. 2. Using a hair dryer heat up a foam applicator for about 20-30 seconds. 3. Immediately rub the hot applicator into the wax you scraped into the lid. 4. The wax will get soft and you can evenly coat the entire pad. 5. Then spread it on the car very THIN. This is the key to making sure its not a bear to remove. 6. When you need more wax on the pad just repeat steps 2-5. 7. Leave it on for at least 25 minutes and then buff it off. It's a little more work than a lot of other waxes but the look it gives blows all other waxes away. I have used a great number of high end waxes and the only one that comes close to Rubbish Boys OE is Vintage and I really only give Vintage the nod because it is so much easier to use. Also Wendell if you applied it thick like you can with some of the wipe on wipe off waxes like Supernatural or Souveran then you had a tough job in front of you for removal. The key is heat and applying very thin. Hope this helps.

Dan, JL has his technique nailed, and as he has said, you need to get it going first with some heat or friction. If you just dip your applicator in then you won't get very far. It's not like Supernatural or Juiced in that respect, it takes a little more effort and slightly different technique. And is the big difference between the homemade wax and the commercial product. The finger applicators work well with it though, just scrape or scuff the top of the wax. You're not trying to get a chunk of wax here, just a small shaving really. Wipe your applicator around in the scrapings or on the scuffed wax so that you soften it a bit, it will start to give up its oils and prime the applicator you can then work that out a long way on the paint.
Dan, if OE bestows as good a look as everyone says it does, wouldn't it be best to stick with three coats of OE, rather than topping it with anything else? Al
You would just be adding more to it. I love the look of SN, we will see though. ...after i get back from the orange bowl ofcoarse haha. We are leaving tomorrow (if i get my chemistry finished). ,Dan
