USJDMTUNER: Project S13 build up thread

since there is no build up thread here, i will post pics of my project s13 track car... its winter and i lost storage of my garage so updates will be slow but i want to post some pics of the car how it looked like before...

History: bought the car real damn cheap.. guy was asking $2000 and i ended up paying him $400.. yep you heard it right... S13 240sx cars that are from northeastern are usually rust buckets like on frame rails, rocker panel, strut tower and suspension components, but not this.. it has some surface rust but none that would compromise the structure and rigidity of the car. Reason why i got the car cheap was some problems like brakes are sqeaking, engine front timing chain was rattling and paint clear coat is done but that is what i was looking for.. oh did i mention the car was automatic? yep how horrible...

yeah its a long way to go.. car is completely stock like suspension, brakes, stock steelies, ugly uncomfortable seats, 4 lugs ... so i was saving all my parts until i had the time to install suspension components...

























so it doesnt look like i did alot to it but car is track worthy in terms on suspension....

What ive done checklist:

Engine
-New oem timing chain upper and lower
-New oem timing tensioner
-New oem waterpump
-New aftermarket NGK spark plugs and wires
-New aftermarket Distributor cap and rotor
-New accesories belts
-New MISHIMOTO aluminum radiator
-New aftermarket radiator hose
-New oem valve cover gasket
-New oem thermostat
-New oem front timing cover seal
-Resealed oil pan gasket
-Welded a bung on the oil pan for future turbo oil feed
-Converted automatic transmission to used Manual transmission
-RPS 6 puck clutch
-Resurface flywheel
-New oem pilot bushing and throw out bearing
-New oem Master cylinder, hard line and slave cylinder
-New SPL soft line to slave cylinder
-used clutch pedal
-New Optima red battery

Suspension:
-used Tein Flex coilovers
-New SPC rear upper control arms
-New SPC front tension rods
-New SPC rear toe link
-New SPC rear end link
-New Tein inner and outer tie rod ends
-4 lug hub was converted to used 5 lug to fit baller wheels in the future
-used front S14 front lug hub
-used front S14 front lower control arm
-used front S14 spindle
-used rear z32 300zx 5 lug hub
-New MOOGs front LCA Ball joints
-used Z32 300zx 4 piston caliper brakes aluminum 30mm
-New Brembo front slotted and dimpled rotors
-PBR front pads
-New SPL front stainless steel braided brake lines
-New aftermarket rear stock rotors
-New aftermarket rear brake pads
-350z track edition 5 lug wheels with federal 595 front 215/40/17 and falken ziex rear 245/45/17
-used front and rear strut bars
-New 2 way KAAZ LSD-> not installed

Body:
- Used OEM JDM Type x kouki aero front bumper, 4 pcs. side skirts, 3 pcs. rear valence => these items are super rare and had to piece them out..Im lucky the front aero bumper came with foglights and turn signals -> not installed yet

Interior:
-used S14 front seats
-used Nardi classic wood steering wheel -> not installed yet
-New HKB Boss steering wheel hub and quick release
-New red Bride Zeta III XL full bucket seat with Bride low rail
-Wool plaid fabric on door panel, shift boot and glove box

 

Damn, that's a pretty clean start! Did you reupholster the interior yourself or have it done?

So will this car be strictly for racing at the track or will there be some sideways action involved?

May I recommend adding the 180sx wing?

 

i hope you keep the KA...... rebuild the bish and boost it, torque FTW!

 

i like the wing but its not my thing.. maybe roof spoiler.. car is track car, mainly drifting.. and i want to try time attack also... im installing 2 way this week..

ofcourse im keeping KA.. its going to be TURBOED... its going to have T28 turbo, ebay bottom manifold and AFC to tune it.. nothing crazy for now..

 

oh.. i did all the work myself.. the interior was pretty easy.. i bought a yard of material, 3M spray adhesive and blade... it wasnt bad.. actually my girl stiched the shift boot..

 

Did you purchase the drifting e-brake button too? It comes in handy a lot for quick e-pulls.

well updates guys... today we instaled 2 way Tomei LSD.... took all day because i had to clean the diff cover and paint it while my friend worked on putting the diff... we broke in the diff today and i changed the fluid after w/ tomei gear oil..... here are few pics:

 

Are you sticking with the ka or doing an sr? be a baller and do an rb!!!

 

Looks good so far. Those Craftsman floor jacks are pretty nice huh? I have two of them myself. That MX-5 looks pretty nice as well, hehe.

 

for the track car my plan is to do stock boost KAT ... i have another s14 kouki which will receive a healthy LS1 powa...

Badass. I have an 08 sti as my track car. I assume you mean road coarse right? If so baller. I thought about building a 300-400whp sr swapped 240 coupe for a drift car. With an s15 front end.

 

08 sti wow... i wanted one for my daily ........... track car... well for now its going to be a drift car.. coupe w/ s15 front end and kouki front is baller..

 

There are so many different 240 combinations that are sick!

 

nice bride bucket, always wanted a fast back 240sx... gotta wait until i got the mula
